This is Grisu, male red squirrel born in summer this year, using this old twig as a ladder and outlook (Squirrels-2019-8748.jpg)

Hazel, my favorite female red squirrel enjoys sitting on small branches. This one was really thin, but it is amazing to see how easy she can keep herself balanced. Happy squirrel appreciation day! (Squirrels-2020-3060.jpg)

This is Grisu, a funny male red squirrel born in March/April this year. Wearing his winter pelt he became really fluffy and snuggly like a plush toy 😍

No, this is not a sheep, but a staring calf. Now I know why people say: "don't stare like a calf at a colorful door". I'm kidding, the adorable animal ran a few meters away from its mother and agreed to pose for this photo.

Her cubs are about 8 weeks old now and I expect to see them every day now (Squirrels-2020-7353.jpg)

This is my buddy Pepper. He is almost 1.5 years old now and still living at the very same place where I saw him the first time as a very tiny young squirrel (Squirrels-2020-4008.jpg)

This is Grape, a 9 months old male red squirrel, posing in the sun. I like how the sun shines through the ear and how it makes his whiskers glow (Squirrels-2019-5841.jpg)

Buddy is a really funny female red squirrel (Squirrels-2020-8391.jpg)

moorhen bubba making a graceful ripple

Probably my favourite photo I took this year so far. That moment had everything we love about going hiking on Dartmoor - epic scenery, wild animals and Bronze Age relics.

The photo is from Rippon Tor in the heart of Dartmoor. There are fantastic 360 degree views across the National Park with Haytor in the background of the shot. The top of Rippon Tor is full of remnants of ancient fortifications and must have been the perfect spot to overlook all of the land below.

The young Dartmoor pony foal could not have been much older than a few days, such a lovely encounter!

Red-faced duck babies swimming in the morning

not a good time to have an uncalibrated lens in low light lol, but I think can just about get away with this one

This is Grape showing his best side. I was sitting in front of a woodpile and one after another all the usual suspects stepped by. That was really cool. I had my camera almost lying flat on that tree pointing slightly upwards in almost minimum focusing distance which rendered a nice perspective and a great bokeh (Squirrels-2019-5223.jpg)

Taking a rest after foraging for food along the canal.

My favorite red squirrel Hazel is a mommy now for the very first time and it looks like it is exhausting. She was sleeping on various branches up in the air today (Squirrels-2020-9884.jpg)

Streifi looks like frayed by the dryer (Squirrels-2020-0296.jpg)

This is Grape leaning against the wind. Grape is a male red squirrel and about 9 months old. He is quite aggressive to other squirrels (Squirrels-2019-5244.jpg)

Hazel, my favorite red squirrel, likes sitting this old twig. However, in this picture, she looks like a chicken on the roost 🐓😂 I treated myself with a new Sigma Art 135mm/1.8 - what a fantastic lens - but I have to step it down to get a usable depth of field (Squirrels-2020-2827.jpg)

This is Grape, a 9 months old male red squirrel, at the edge of a thicket. I like the reflections of the rising sun in his eyes and how the EF 400/2.8 renders the background (Squirrels-2019-8638.jpg)

The sun was high in the sky for this but I still like it

Grape, a 9 months old male red squirrel between fallen leaves. Love the colors of fall! (Squirrels-2019-6688.jpg)

(Monrepos-2019-3121.jpg)

The Canon EF 70-200 also produces a very nice bokeh against the sun which look like bubbles. The fluffy tail of Buddy, a female red squirrel, nicely blends in with the background (Squirrels-2020-2067.jpg)

Hey! Let's check out the guy with the camera.

It was quite cold and Streifi, a resident male red squirrel, moved up to this branch in about 2 meters height, and rolled up his bushy tale to warm-up himself. Cool invention by mother nature! He sat there for several minutes nearly without moving and allowed me to come really close. The image is almost uncropped at 200mm (Squirrels-2019-7071.jpg)

This is Grape. He is about half a year old and starts to get used to me again. Today was a very sunny day making the leaves glow with bright fall colors in the background

This couldn't be more true than today. These are two (actually three with the one in the background) of an orphaned squirrel squad of four babies from last year (Squirrels-2020-8888.jpg)

Dieser kleine Frischling hatte seine Familie verloren und lief suchend umher. Als er einen kleinen Graben schwimmend

überquerte hatte ich die Gelegenheit schnell ein Foto zum machen.

This little freshman had lost his family and was wandering around looking for them. As it swam across a small ditch, I had the opportunity to take a quick photo.

This is my favorite red squirrel Hazel resting on a branch after hiding an enormous amount of nuts until I was literally out of stock. She looks very satisfied as if she has reached her daily goal 👍 (Squirrels-2019-3695.jpg)

Hazel, my favorite red squirrel, gazing at the Turkish hazelnuts I'm holding in my hand. She likes them so much 😉

Pippa is such a beautiful red squirrel with her hazelnut colored fur... (Squirrels-2020-8389.jpg)
