Customs House on the Bund was built between 1925 and 1927, replacing a smaller Customs House which stood on the same site.
The clock in the tower was the largest in Asia when it was built, its face measuring 5.4 metres in diameter with a 3.17 m long minute hand.
The buildng still houses the Shanghai Customs department, though China Customs also has a modern building on the Pudong side of Huangpu River - directly opposite the historic building.

I even liked the design on the pillars. No detail was missed.

These are all customs I have started in the past but for various reasons not completed. In most cases it is because I'm not happy with the start or that I lost interest in the character.

I managed to fit in a quick visit to Dublin before Christmas and six weeks of lockdown here. This is the Customs House, with some seasonal lighting. A belated Merry Christmas to everyone!

The construction of the Customs House, at 1 Front Street, south of Lambard Street, was started in 1852 and finished in 1858. The building was unusual at that time for its fire-proof construction with iron beams inside the stone walls. The original building was completely made of granite. The 1912 addition was also granite from the same quarry at Mussel Ridge Islands in Penobscot Bay. The architectural style of the 2.5 story building is Italianate. The roof is a hipped roof. That architectural style was rarely seen in this area at that time. The building is considered elaborate because of the detail of how the stone was cut, set, and placed.

The very handsome Customs House building on Alfred Street, Sydney, built in 1845. It now houses a library, exhibition spaces and a bar / restaurant.
Back in June Johnni D. wanted to do another build-off, using Hummers and Humvees as our inspiration! This was my build, inspired by the Village Customs Ratrod001 (which isn't a Hummer, but reminded me of one).
