Since the old town of Cologne (Köln), Germany is popular with tourists, many different types of restaurants can be found there. Kebab restaurants seem to be very popular in major German cities. I chose a pub that offered some German dishes such as currywurst. I was a bit surprised that the curry sauce was a bit sweet. Otherwise it was very good. I also liked the apple juice. Meal prices in Cologne (Köln) were nowhere as high as in Switzerland...

Curry 36 | Berlin | Best of the Wurst

 

This late night takeaway started as a cart back in 1980 building a reputation as a reliable and affordable pit stop for cabbies and clubbers. These days, Curry 36 is a brick-and-mortar operation with stand-up tables out front – and usually a queue of folks waiting to order their currywurst, bockwurst, fries and such. The place is among the most famous of classic currywurst joints. It’s where celebs, dignitaries and the like are taken to taste the real thing. Despite its popularity, Curry 36 retains a very “of the street” feel.

I love to try street food of all kinds, and currywurst was high on my list. Apparently there are major battles over which stand is best, just like tacos here in LA.
