Was a hermit at home this week. Finished 3 books. Now I have "She's Come Undone" to start.
The Help was an page turner for sure; loved it.
The Oy joke books were an entertaining quick read as well; saw it on display at Barnes & Nobles, read a bit of it, found it funny, and decided to go borrow the book.

Victoria's Current Swell capped off the last day of the Otalith Music Festival in Ucluelet, BC.
Current is sent through two parallel coils of wire. In this second image, the coils are released, and allowed to accelerate away from each other.
Part of my current job scanning portions of Muybridge's correspondence from his years at the University of Pennsylvania, so that they can be viewed online; also on the list was this book, which is now fully scanned (thought not quite yet online -- I'll update this when it is), and well worth reading.

went to winco, watched more Until Dawn, played games and somehow kept up with the drama happening in the big brother house.
Someone on youtube decided to make a video and titled it "Dear fat people" I bet you can guess what the video is about without watching it. I didn't bother watching it because it would upset me. Instead I kept up with that drama by watching Grace Helbig's (amazing youtuber) response video to it and Rob Dyke's tweets. Either way, the person who made the video is an ugly person and also a coward because she disable the comments on her video.
Now I'm just eating skittles at 11pm because I'm bored and have no sense of schedule.

Auralia's Colors by Jeffrey Overstreet.
It is marked as Fiction / Fantasy, but I think I found it in the Young Adult section.
I am slightly past one third of the book.
Auralia in a place where colors are banned,
only to be used when rationed out.
However, she can craft colors.
Do not worry.. I have not given away much more than what you could not learn by reading the back cover. Reading the book at this time seems to make sense, since I have rediscovered colors through the eye/lens of my camera.

I have images in an exhibition of Thames based photography which runs from 10th Jan until 28th Feb 2011 at the elixir gallery in the Queen Elizabeth hospital on Woolwich Common. The other two photographers in the exhibition are Marshall Pinsent , and Andy Linden ( check out their Flickr pages ) and we all belong to Aperture Woolwich Photographic Society.
Any of my Flickr friend's able to make this exhibition let me know as there will be a private viewing to which you will be invited !

The Low Pay Commission is recommending an increase in the National Minimum Wage of 50 cent per hour.
The current rate of the minimum wage is €8.65 and was last increased in 2011 by €1 to €8.65, following a cut of a similar amount imposed by the previous Government earlier in 2011.
In a comprehensive report submitted to Business and Employment Minister, Ged Nash the Commission sets out a range of data it has considered in recommending the 50 cent increase. Commissioners also sought submissions from interested parties and consulted directly with workers on the minimum wage and employers in relevant economic sectors.
In making its recommendation, the Low Pay Commission sets out a range of considerations it has taken into account, including:
The available evidence suggests that moderate increases in the minimum wage will not lead to significant loss of jobs
The Irish economy is recovering although it still faces risks particularly in the external environment
The number of people in employment is increasing
Unemployment remains high but has declined particularly in the last year
Competitiveness has improved, partly due to exchange rate movements and it is important that this trend is maintained
While inflation has been relatively low, the minimum wage has effectively remained at its current level for the past 8 years
Taoiseach Enda Kenny said:
The recommendations of the Low Pay Commission will be addressed in the Budget in October, alongside changes to the taxation system and the welfare system, so that all elements of our plan to make work pay will reinforce each other.
Tánaiste Joan Burton said:
This Government has brought about economic recovery and we can build a decade of growth, jobs and opportunity on that foundation and raise living standards across the board. Increasing the minimum wage in line with the independent Commission’s recommendation will be an important part of that process.
Minister Nash added:
Making work pay is a cornerstone of the Government’s dignity at work agenda. For a full time worker on the national minimum wage hourly rate, a 50 cent per hour increase will mean a pay rise in excess of €1,000 per year. There are some 120,000 workers who are likely to benefit from such an increase. The establishment of the Low Pay Commission illustrates the Government’s determination to tackle the challenge of low pay in a structured and sustainable fashion.
Minister Nash also thanked the Commissioners for their service and those who met with the Commission or made submissions to it in the course of its work.

Alcatraz Island is located in San Francisco Bay, 1.25 miles (2.01 km) offshore from San Francisco, California, United States. The small island was developed with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison, and a federal prison from 1934 until 21 March 1963. The water currents around the island were high at all times, which presumably decreased the chance of an inmate escaping. Beginning in November 1969, the island was occupied for more than 19 months by a group of Native Americans from San Francisco, who were part of a wave of Native American activism across the U.S., with public protests through the 1970s. In 1972, Alcatraz became part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area and received designation as a National Historic Landmark in 1986.
Today, the island's facilities are managed by the National Park Service as part of Golden Gate National Recreation Area; it is open to tours. Visitors can reach the island in a little under 15 minutes by ferry ride from Pier 33, located between the San Francisco Ferry Building and Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco. Hornblower Cruises and Events, operating under the name Alcatraz Cruises, is the official ferry provider to and from the island.
Alcatraz Island is home to the abandoned prison, the site of the oldest operating lighthouse on the West Coast of the United States, early military fortifications, and natural features such as rock pools and a seabird colony (mostly western gulls, cormorants, and egrets). According to a 1971 documentary on the history of Alcatraz, the island measures 1,675 feet (511 m) by 590 feet (180 m) and is 135 feet (41 m) at highest point during mean tide. The total area of the island is reported to be 22 acres (8.9 ha).
Landmarks on the island include the Main Cellhouse, Dining Hall, Lighthouse, the ruins of the Warden's House and Social Hall, Parade Grounds, Building 64, Water Tower, New Industries Building, Model Industries Building, and the Recreation Yard.
