Sometimes, in looking at the more spectacular fall colours, I forget how lovely the browns of fall are.

I'm spending alot of time at 500px.com/DougWheller at the moment - why not come and visit. The new Flickr??
...and totally fearless. It sat in the sun and trimmed its feathers and let me take several photos of it.
They're usually rather vigilant, so this was a new experience for me - perhaps for the bird too, when it found out that I wasn't that dangerous, even with a big lens aiming at it.

Curling up while lit by the great sun of the desert, which was shining through the thin glass before her.
Curls (obviously enhanced by means of a curling iron) adorn this beauty's forehead, and long dark locks cascade over her shoulders. Her waist is tighly nipped in by the de rigueur corset dictated by the fashion of the times. Her hands and forearms are sheathed by dark lace mitts, and her jewelry consists of slender bangles on right arm and two heavy bracelets on her left arm. View the photograph on large to see the details of the necklace under her lace collar as well as the two rings on her left hand. Leaning on a closed large fan, she stares pensively off to her left, almost as if she were daydreaming.
The myriad of buttons to be fastened down the front of the bodice and the endless yards of pleats on the flounces of the skirt, which would all have to be carefully pressed, probably made this dress a pain to put on and a nightmare for a lady's maid to iron.
She is seated in an upholstered arm chair with wood turnings, and a dark fringed scarf embroidered with daisy-like flowers has been placed at the top of the chair.
The elaborate painted backdrop is a tour de force with its heavily carved "mantel," elegant "drapery," and a "table" covered with an embroidered cloth and bearing a "teapot" and "teacup."
This photograph was taken at the studio of Frey & Rahn in India. So far, although I have seen several of their photographs, I have not been able to come up with any information on this firm.
Taken with an iPhone 4 Olloclip, edited with an iPad 2. I've been impatiently waiting for my passionflower to flower this year, it's not happening after another harsh winter, so I decided to photograph the cool curly things instead. I've cropped this to death, not sure if it works.
