This collection is inspired by Provence in the southern area of France. More specifically, elements like the vegetation and colourful atmosphere of the countryside in the summer. The collection seeks to translate a feeling of Nostalgia linked to a time of recklessness. This is represented through a use of bold colours and naïve aesthetic. The research part looks at how a variety of artists have represented the Mediterranean atmosphere through different medias. In that way, the collection is split in three different categories. The first part looks at stripes; hand drawn coloured stripes with a vintage feel. The kind of stripes and colour combinations you would find on Brigitte Bardot, an interior or a beach umbrella in a 1960’s Godard movie like Pierrot le fou or Le Mépris. The second part looks at Mario Giacomelli 1930’s photographs of laboured fields in Italy. His photos are compositions of textures and graphic lines that have an etching quality. The prints associated with Giacomelli’s work are placement prints. The third aspect of this collection is inspired by Strange plants, a set of two books created by independent publisher Zioxla. The books are looking at strange plants from the views of different artists. The aesthetical focus is on plants that have unusual shapes, like certain cacti that grow in the mediterranean area.

I have found a cure for hair loss. Get an orange cat and train it to sit on your head. Cats come in many different colours, so any type of hair can be covered. You can even dye them with eco cat friendly dye, that is.
The only problem is I am allergic to cats, so every time I sneeze, my cat jumps og my head. The idea needs a bit more thought I think
Sulle strade ancora bagnate si fa largo un camice che ancheggia deciso e fiero di sè. La pelle nera fa risaltar ancor di più la purezza di quel bianco, sotto il quale fanno capolino delle calze autoreggenti, che non sembrano proprio scese lì giù per caso.
Dal lato opposto della strada si fanno vivaci i commenti di un gruppetto di Bomberos a riposo, che a torso nudo si affacciano dalla terrazza della loro caserma.
Incomprensibili le loro parole, ma basta un pò di intuito...
A prima vista mi sembra una carnevalata dal sapore cubano, una jinetera dotata (anche) di creatività.
Solo dopo qualche giorno capirò che quella è la divisa quotidiana di tutte le infermiere cubane dalla coscia più o meno lunga.
Tra i punti fermi del regime c'è anche l'impeccabile Sanità cubana, che concede a tutti cure mediche gratuite, tanto da farne un vanto da esportare per soccorrere con l'invio temporaneo di centinaia di medici i vicini più o meno graditi: i paesi sudamericani a partire dal Venezuela, ma anche i nemici yankees, messi in ginocchio dall'uragano Katrina che a New Orleans certo non hanno dimenticato.
Delle infermiere però non mi aveva mai parlato nessuno, eppure...
Qui finisce il nostro soggiorno all'Avana. L'isola è grande, altre realtà ci aspettano.

Un "Curiste" de la belle époque...
Bretaña no tiene quesos regionales; la elaboración del queso fue introducida en la última década del siglo XVIII por un joven sacerdote que escapaba de la Revolución Francesa. El Nantais, también conocido como Curé de Nantais o Fromage de Curé, hace honor a ese hecho. Es pequeño, pegajoso, de corteza lavada picante y con aroma a levadura. La pasta, cremosa y untuosa, tiene un desarrollado sabor a bacon ahumado y un intenso regusto. Este queso puede ser muy bueno; merece la compañía de un buen vino como un Pinot Noir robusto o un Gewurztramier de fuerte sabor.
My friend Barb has a huge olive tree in her front yard. I'm not much of a fan of olives, but we decided to pick the olives from her tree and cure them ourselves. We ended up with 10-12 jars full. Much to my surprise, I discovered I LoVE this kind of OLivE. They are creamy and buttery and better than any other Olive I've ever had.
The process is time consuming, and messy. It involves Lye - which can be hard to find. I think it's strange, that you cure the olives with this substance (Lye) that's marked as poison. Lots of water changes and salt baths and we ended up with these beautiful little gems.

A big heavy coal train coming out of a brilliant sunset at the Geneva Metra station a few weeks ago. Underexposed, but HDR'd a bit to bring out nose detail. Lot of flare, but something other than dreary rain to look at, that we have had/will for a few more days

I love the fresh looking herbs, it is like they are growing on the plate. It also made a fantastic Lunch... it is Apple Cured Salmon with a Paw Paw and Chilli salsa and Micro Herbs
Gene and his son Bob were harvesting hay in large rectangular bales along SR 39 in LaPorte County Indiana. The bales weigh 1700 pounds, which is what caught my attention. I am used to seeing small bales that can be manhandled and thrown onto a trailer or large round bales. Gene said that his son loads these onto a semi using a tractor with forks. The hay had been cured for two days and raked into rows by Gene. Bob operated the John Deer baler. During the winter Bob sells the hay to people for their cattle and horses.
