Scarlet Elf Cup / sarcoscypha austriaca. Cloud Wood, Leicestershire. 14/03/20.
In these fraught and worrying days, any pops of colour in our lives must be welcomed and appreciated. Scarlet Elf Cups certainly provided me with a huge smile when I visited a Leicestershire nature reserve a short while ago. It's been ages since I last found any.
The diminutive, irregular cup-shaped fungi go by a variety of names ... Scarlet Elf Caps, Red Cups, Scarlet Cups, Moss Cups and my favourite, Fairies Baths!
You'll notice that I wasn't the first to discover this one. The variety of holes in the cup are signs that slugs and small rodents had beat me to it ... definitely not a suitable bath for any woodland fairies!

We managed to fit 20 minutes of live World Cup in between our 10 hours of science experiments.

Several years ago my wife and I got these travel coffee cups which you could customize. I designed Megs and she designed mine. I was looking at mine last night and after several years of use, washing etc. the colors have washed into the paper and cause this weathered... distressed... textured look. I thought... Funk it up Friday! :)

It's funny but in the U.K there is one thing that can solve a million different problems. Your girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, husband etc etc has just left you, never mind, have a nice cup of tea. You've just crashed the car, just been mugged, been stuck 9 days in traffic, didn't get that job, lost your favourite watch, deleted work on the computer, buried the dog, fell over, broke a bone, have a huge spot on your nose, missed your favourite TV programme, didn't get that phone call, have an ingrown toe nail, have strange hair sticking out of your ears ... then don't worry, I'll go and put the kettle on and make us a lovely cup of tea. Then you will feel lots better. :o)
So... I have not been uploading anything for a long time, as much has been going on lately. Yet there is nothing as a cup of tea to set thoughts in motion.
