Come on? Turn on the ride.

Well it seemed Cash was very reluctant to turn it on. Gerrie seemed fearless though and looking forward to some fun.

Happy Teddy Bear Tuesday

but they have demonstrated time and again that they have the management skills of celery. They're the kind of people who'd stop to help you change a flat, but would somehow manage to set your car on fire. I would be reluctant to entrust them with a Cuisinart, let alone the economy. The Republicans, on the other hand, would know how to fix your tire, but they wouldn't bother to stop because they'd want to be on time for Ugly Pants Night at the country club :-)

Well, thought I'd put something up, running behind as always. But I took five minutes to find -something- fitting to take a picture of, as I haven't been able to go out taking photos for so long. Amazingly I remembered how to push the button ;)

Of course had to crop square, and run it through the Lightroom Cuisinart...

Oh, eventually I will get some more music up, too. Haven't stopped that either :)

This is no ordinary yolk!

Yesterday I spent 3 hours preparing a dessert for this evening's company. At one point, I was so fascinated by the vanilla making patterns in the cream around the yolk, that I grabbed my camera and stuck the lens into my cuisinart . . . true to form, I continued painting long after the Pear Tart had been served and devoured!

I did not participate with the MacroMonday challenge lately... but just got a new bread toaster and the button is quite nice actually...especially for a toaster.... it's a push button/knob to set the level of burning you want to do ;) ... sorry no bread but a nice reflection of a NIkon F in it ;)

I jetted down into the Caribbean to write and photograph a guide for AFAR Magazine. I had an amazing time - and a million amazing meals - at the CuisinArt Golf Resort and Spa , and spent four days exploring the island with the help of Anguilla Tourism. Big thanks to my pals at Diamond PR for helping to arrange another great trip.

ODC-Little Helpers

I use both these appliances save me a lot of time when I cook. The little one is perfect for small jobs that require mincing or chopping things very small. The big one is good for so much. I even make pie crust in it.

Before she started belly dancing 3 years ago, Arielle was hard core hip hop. This night the Cuisinart Shimmy Shaker fused the two dance forms to show the audience her roots.

I upgraded to a new Cuisinart Bread Machine. This one is lighter than my old Breadman and it's so much easier to use. It even has a light inside so you can watch the bread. I will slice it and freeze it later. I held the camera over the top of the machine to get this photo.

ODC-Little Things

Though it may seem like a little thing, the crumb on the bread is important. This is how my bread (which I baked yesterday in my new bread machine) turned out. I'm pleased with it.

Here is the mint chip ice cream the kids and I made this week. Yum!

It was white when she bought it, yellowed with age but motor still strong and blade still sharp.

I've taken a lot of her culinary equipment now that she's passed. She would be happy to know that I'm making gumbo for the Operating Room Christmas pot-luck feast tomorrow. She loved my gumbo.......

Since posting this I realized that this can't have been our first Cuisinart as the oldest one had no switches on the front; you had to turn the lid to locked and that engaged the motor. But this one in the image is probably more like 30 years old or so. Still, it was Hers

Food Month Continues! So we've had some green tea, then shared a shot of espresso, but we've left out the caffeinated drink of choice for millions, including my wife...freshly-brewed coffee. See how you perked up when I said that? Why do you love your coffee so much?

Einstein Bros.: Laura swears by this popular brand, and buys it freshly ground. And though during the work week we usually stop to grab her coffee on the way in, on the weekends she'll make a 12-cup pot at home--and drink the entire thing herself. But still somehow my Sleeping Beauty will be fast asleep by 10:00pm.

Salami and speck on bagel cream cheese

'Buffalo Wings' for lack of a better term.

But I made my own hot sauce using dried de árbol chilies by soaking in seasoned rice vinegar overnight then running thoroughly through the food processor. Added salt, garlic powder, and onion powder then processed again until few if any seeds were still visible. Then I strained the blend through a sieve and refrigerated the sauce. That gave me about 1/2 cup of hot sauce.

1/2 cup of softened butter + 1/2 cup of the hot sauce(warmed) + 6 cloves of fresh garlic (this is where the Emeril audience shouts with glee👏) and back in the Cuisinart for a vigorous mixing.

Tossed well with deep fried chicken wings.

The flavor is distinctly different than with the cayenne that is usually employed for Hot Wings and the seasoned rice vinegar gave an added sweetness that is unexpected with the first bite. The garlic takes it over the top. Very hot but actually much more flavor than is usually associated with 'Buffalo Wings'.

ODC-Compound Words

Made these for the first time from scratch this morning. I used my Cuisinart Waffle/Pancake Maker. I love that they turned out so well. I got a "double compound word" here. Buck--Wheat Pan--Cakes.

When I was a kid, I remember the homemade ice cream machines that my parents and grandparents would haul out when it was a special holiday like Memorial Day, July 4th, or Labor Day. When I was little I always got the job of poking a stick in the hole at the bottom of the ice cream maker to make sure the melting salty ice water could escape. As I got older, they put me on the "crank". Well, times have changed. What you see here are my grandkids watching a batch of homemade ice cream get churned up in the Cuisinart. No crank, no salty ice water, no poking the hole at the bottom. But the excitement of watching the ice cream getting made hasn't changed one bit.
