For want of a better name, this little display case is called a cubby house. Full of funny little things I've collected over the years.
Felt I needed some Bear therapy as really missing not getting out to Alaska this year to get up close and personal with these magnificent animals, one of thousands of pictures I took from Silver Salmon Creek including these inquisitive cubs and their very tolerant momma made it a fantastic visit.....Wishing my life away but roll on August next year!!!
Got a little bored last night so decided to do some lightpainting with my son's cubbyhouse. Tried to paint some "people" on the swing, with little success and then include the night sky over Bathurst. 5 layers for the cubbyhouse, 3 shot panorama to include the sky, F2.8 ISO 3000 15 second exposure for the night sky, ISO 400 F.7.1 20 second exposure for the light painting effects. Adjustments in lightroom 5, panorama blended in Panorama Pro
I liked the idea of cubbies because they can be easily rearranged to fit the need. I left a small space for play in the middle.
This is the shoe cubbies for Jia's class, with the students' name in each unit.
Guess which one is Jia's shoe?

Cubbies are your friend. Somehow this cubby-style bookcase makes all my “stuff” (that would otherwise be strewn around the room/apartment) seem ordered. You can group like things together, conceal smaller/messier items in bins/boxes, and have pretty things on display. All without labeling a thing! And it only comes out from the wall 15”, so it’s a major space saver. (Expedit bookcase from Ikea, various sizes/prices). -- Kate, Real Simple Home Department
planning to back each cubby with watercolored paper. [Proof a real kid lives here...check out the bulldozer's "embellishment" in the bottom left cubby.]
Yes really - that is what they are called - Nummy Cubbies !!! They are like gummy bears but a little bigger and made from fruit juice... and it's a wonder there are any left to take a picture of as my wife and I are rapidly demolishing the packet!

This is the cubby in our dining room. The Mary Engelbreit Shoot came before the two Woman's Day shoots so this one doesn't have the doors that I ended up having to add later.

This photo shows the last storage section on the right side of the storage room- on top are boxes of white model magic. Inside the cubby I store poster board in order by color, as well as a small box of recycled materials. On top of the cubby you can see a stack of empty poster board boxes- these are the perfect size for storing paintings- I have been saving them so that I have one for each class that I teach- I still need about four more to have a complete set.
