Here is my tea collection...I still have my french press for an occasional coffee craving, but tea is my favorite. It's so calming, cleansing, invigorating...the possibilites are endless. Read more about my tea obsession.

Cute, no? We're considering something like this for a downstairs closet. This photo is from the Desk of Lola:

Wrigleyville in N-Scale.

With the Cubs winning the World Series Wrigley Field and the Wrigleyville neighborhood are very much in the news. I thought I would upload these images to show what the area looked like in the early 1970s when the Milwaukee Road ran right past the ballpark to interchange with the CTA at the Buena Yard in Uptown. I’ve been working on this diorama over the years and it is very much a work in progress.

I also model the Milwaukee Road Chicago & Evanston (C&E Line) farther south from Belmont Avenue to Wellington Avenue where it ran down the middle of Lakewood Avenue. I will post pictures of that diorama later.

My goal is to close the gap between the two dioramas-in a compressed way-and one day model the section around Racine and Roscoe where the Milwaukee Road went under the CTA Ravenswood Line and service a fuel dealer.

All of the buildings are scratch built using photographs and postcards of buildings in the area from the era. Some have since been torn down like the residence on Eddy Street, Franksville, Yum Yum Donuts, and the two commercial buildings on the east side of Clark south of Addison. The Standard Condenser building is now part of the expanded Cubby Bear sports bar complex.

The roadbed for the tracks was built up on cork with cardstock for the top layer and thinly cut strips of polystyrene for the spaces between the flangeways to simulate street trackage. By this date the Milwaukee Road had abandoned the southbound main in this area and used just the former northbound main. I tried to show an out of service track that is partly paved over for the former southbound main.

The cantilevered grade crossing signals are from NJ International. The track is Atlas as is the SW-1200 that Bill Denton custom painted for me in the number of an actual unit that was photographed by the Wrigley Field team track on one of the last days of service.

The only half decent photo i got of them, they hid right at the back of the enclosure and the plexi glass was really scratched and awful to try and shoot through, and i was not tall enough to avoid it LOL

This is a design of my own. It is an idea I have had for a while, inspired by my darling's ever growing shoe collection. :)

Though the impetus for this design was shoe storage, the possible uses are endless - toys, clothes, household items, umbrellas, purses, the list goes on.

The rounded shape and soft, non - toxic materials also makes this design ideal for use as cubbies for a child's bedroom or kinder care program.

The color for this prototype was chosen to match the decor of my home. Were I to market the design, I would offer the modules in a selection of primary colors.

To construct the modules, we found several large cardboard tubes left over from a construction job near the shop. The tubes were cut down to length, sanded smooth, then painted with an almond colored satin latex paint.

The tubes were then joined into either rows of three or pyramid shaped modules. These two module designs allow for endless possible configurations. I liked the staggered column, but there is no limit to how these could be arranged.

For want of a better name, this little display case is called a cubby house. Full of funny little things I've collected over the years.

Felt I needed some Bear therapy as really missing not getting out to Alaska this year to get up close and personal with these magnificent animals, one of thousands of pictures I took from Silver Salmon Creek including these inquisitive cubs and their very tolerant momma made it a fantastic visit.....Wishing my life away but roll on August next year!!!

Got a little bored last night so decided to do some lightpainting with my son's cubbyhouse. Tried to paint some "people" on the swing, with little success and then include the night sky over Bathurst. 5 layers for the cubbyhouse, 3 shot panorama to include the sky, F2.8 ISO 3000 15 second exposure for the night sky, ISO 400 F.7.1 20 second exposure for the light painting effects. Adjustments in lightroom 5, panorama blended in Panorama Pro

I liked the idea of cubbies because they can be easily rearranged to fit the need. I left a small space for play in the middle.

This is the shoe cubbies for Jia's class, with the students' name in each unit.

Guess which one is Jia's shoe?
