A CSX C40 leads an autorack train south through the National Cemetery in Nashville on November 1, 2013. It was most worthwhile spending a couple of hours in the cemetery before flying home that morning. I spent the time between trains walking through the crosses, reading the names, thinking not only of their sacrifice but what all veterans have sacrificed. At the time I had a close perspective on the sacrifices as my son had recently been discharged from the Marines. It's a shame that we don't all get to see firsthand what these men and women give up and go through to serve their country..
This is a reprocessing of a similar shot posted years ago using more modern tools and possibly higher user skills.

The power set featured a variety of engine types, including a CSX C40-9W GE (leader), CSX SD40-3 EMR, CN ES44DC GE, and a CSX yard Switcher.

CSX 4256 in Chessie colors leads a color riot of power on an Eastbound CSX freight at South Heights, PA on October 22, 1992. I remember this getting by me when I was getting Conrail action in New Brighton on the other side of the Beaver River, so I got on the highway after getting through Rochester & Monaca and gave pursuit until I was ahead enough to get this grab shot.

The Story: The shot we all wind up with. Train YPMO-R1 aka the Staley Local, works its way across Delmorr Ave, past the local DQ. CSX power is now pretty common, where as at one time, NS power was a more common occurrence. The 6203 was built for the B&O in February 1978.
A GEVO in the snow on a Westbound at CP367 in Rochester, NY on February 7, 2020. The Winter of 2019-2020 was primarily a brown stick season in Western New York. I took my camera with me to work the handful of times it did snow and would stop at the CSX main just down the street from work. I would prefer to be chasing the LA&L on a day like this, but with their late start time for the road train I can no longer catch them. CSX GEVO's will have to do for now.
