CSX ES40DC 5500, the Spirit of Cincinnati, sits in Taft yard south of Orlando, FL with GP40-2 6432.
The Spirit of Cincinnati was held captive here in yard duty for a good month or two.
CSX 7503 heads west through Augusta on the TC&W with ethanol empties for Winthrop. Getting a train in daylight out here can be a tough task but with some luck it can be done and with a clean leader to boot. This would be my only sunny shot before clouds took over but it was great to see a freight train here.
CSX 5933 leads intermodal train Q-135 by MK "Tower" at Juniper Street in Versailles, PA on December 30, 1997.
Little U18-B 1945 in SCL colors heads up the switchback to Koppel Steel in Koppel, PA on December 29, 1992. I saw the P&LE local to Koppel many times in Beaver Falls but never went up to get pics of it from the Koppel Bridge, to my shame. This was actually the only time I got the local going up to Koppel Steel. There are a few "yard" tracks at JA, out of view just around the curve, where the local has left the train. It will bring down cars from the steel mill before taking cars up. This local is actually a Three Rivers Railway train, the short lived subsidiary that CSX created when it got the P&LE. I did shoot the mainline trains of both P&LE and CSX from the bridge here, if that is any consolation.
CSX M202 is northbound on the A&WP/WofA Subdivision at Stonewall Connection in Union City, Georgia with a SD70AC leader. August 2022
CSX 348 leads northbound Tampa to Jacksonville intermodal train I044 through Richland on the Wildwood Subdivision.
CSX 2233 is the leader of a slug set that has been added to the head end of E-0168 at Edinau, PA on May 2, 1994. CSX was putting most trains down the P&W sub while track work was being done on the ex P&LE. Helpers were used to assist the trains on the tortuous P&W Sub. The train that was just ahead of this one also received a helper at Edinau, seen here:

CSX GEVO 3428 is leading a Westbound intermodal train that is kicking up a cloud of snow as it moves along at CP367 in Rochester, NY on February 28, 2019.
CSX 3416 on an Eastbound kicks up the snow on track 2 while 3308 works on the siding at the East end of Goodman Street Yard in Rochester, NY on March 2, 2018.
CSX 314 & 55 lead an E-182 empty hopper train down the CSX Mon Line on the South side of McKeesport, PA on December 21, 2000. The train is passing the Casturo Scrap Yard and is about to pass under the Dravosburg Bridge, which I am standing on.
The special Units of CSX & NS were on display at NCTM, Spencer, NC to honor First Responders.
The landing of Chopper was entirely incidental.
In 2012, a CSX auto rack train passes the Amtrak station with GE C40-8 7595 leading. It was biult for CSX in 1990 and then sold to the Maine Central sometime after this shot was made.
On 2006, a local CSX Railroad crew brings a CSX train ut of an industrial area near Rozzelle's Ferry Road in Charlotte, North Carolina using a GP38-2 and MP15DC as power.
The CSX 50th Anniversary Lifesaver unit leads B728 West at Brooklyn Heights. APS was used to remove several poles and wires.
CSX 2063 is the power on the Three Rivers Railway local that has come from Youngstown, OH to work the old P&LE lines at Mahoningtown, PA and New Castle on December 22, 1992. The old P&LE Mahoningtown station sits vacant and the Westbound P&LE signals can be seen beyond the station. Three Rivers Railway was a short lived subsidiary of CSX that was used to assume all of the operations of the P&LE.
The CSX Santa train on its return way back to Jacksonville crossing a wooden trestle at North, SC on a beautiful Fall day. North is the name of the place.
CSX train Q-216 passes by the silent shops at McKees Rocks, PA on September 13, 1992. The P&LE had just become a Fallen Flag and all of the power was stored around the shops awaiting disposition. I was able to spend a morning walking around the shops area taking pics of the power. This view is from the PC&Y bridge.
A trio of CSX EMD engines (2 SD70MAC, SD40-3) pull a Southbound Autorack Train on the CSX W&A Subdivision, seen here passing over the fill just outside of Emerson, GA.
Watch the video I shot of this train here:
Lots of buzz going on during the day as folks tried to keep up with the P001-08 as it flew up the CE&D then west on the STL Line. A well timed OS gave me enough time to fly over HN Cabin in Washington Park.
HN Cabin is a former B&O facility reported to be the office for the local CSX police. The B&O Illinois Sub is the single track on the right and recently OWLS crossings were installed between it and the double track A&S.

A CSX West Olive coal train turns the corner toward Grand Rapids in Plymouth, Michigan with a much improved yellow nose scheme. I hated the all grey and blue/grey schemes, this was an improvement but far from what could have been considering all the classy schemes that disappeared into Family Lines and CSX. April 1990
CSX 7486 still in nice Conrail Blue leads CSX train Q-135 at SINNS in Port Vue, PA on March 30, 2002. I have scanned a ton of slides the last few weeks from 1997 to early 2000's and figure I may as well start posting a couple pics each day.
A CSX C40 leads an autorack train south through the National Cemetery in Nashville on November 1, 2013. It was most worthwhile spending a couple of hours in the cemetery before flying home that morning. I spent the time between trains walking through the crosses, reading the names, thinking not only of their sacrifice but what all veterans have sacrificed. At the time I had a close perspective on the sacrifices as my son had recently been discharged from the Marines. It's a shame that we don't all get to see firsthand what these men and women give up and go through to serve their country..
This is a reprocessing of a similar shot posted years ago using more modern tools and possibly higher user skills.
