Freaks of Nature: A silly art show for Freaks, Cryptids & Monsters
Made by one weird, silly, freaky Dee Wah-Lung
On exhibit at Bear and Bird South Florida: November 15, 2024 - January 12, 2025
Artist Bio: Diana "Dee" Wah-Lung is a queer, Latinx graphic designer and illustrator who draws inspiration from her love of vintage cartoons, graphic design, hardcore music, and all things whimsy and weird.
She is a Miami native who went to school for a degree in Fine Arts, where she landed in the world of product design for almost 10 years and realized she wanted to pursue her artistic endeavors and went with it, baby! Her journey has led her to a fun collaboration with the Miami Heat for Women’s History Month and has a myriad of products she designed for Ban.do sold at major retailers such as Urban Outfitters, Barnes and Noble and Anthropologie!
When she’s not glued to her sketchbook, you can find her watching a horror movie with her partner and two cats.
“Freaks of Nature” is Dee’s first solo art show based off of her personal experience of self discovery. Through whimsy, fun colors, and her cute illustrations - she shares her view of what it feels like to love two extremes and learn how to blend them together to feel like her most authentic self. With subtle horror influences to the more prominent monster mug shots, she wants to portray a universe where monsters and humans are much more alike than we realize, created with relatable typography and fun illustrations.

Hundreds gathered at The Museum in the Park on Saturday afternoon to welcome back Stroud Wassail.
Previously, the wassail was an incredibly popular event featuring traditional music and dance and was centred around the Subscription Rooms, but the last Stroud Wassail was held in 2020 and in subsequent years fell victim to the global pandemic.
Saturday’s wassail marked a glorious return and opened with dancing from Miserden Morris, followed by Styx of Stroud and Merrie Morgana.
The event was officially opened by Robin Burton, who introduced singer-songwriter Johnny Coppin who performed gallantly despite a sudden downpour.
A barrel of beer, supplied by Fresh Standard Brew Company, who had a stall at the event, was later put ‘on trial’ – and ultimately found not guilty.
The Cryptids performed in the museum’s courtyard before The New Gloucester Play was performed – a modern mummer’s play, which brought the afternoon to a close.
Abigail Large, Events and Exhibitions Officer at The Museum in the Park said: “It’s great to host amazing community events like this – it’s all about wishing each other good health, good cheer, and it has been great fun.
“I think the last one was in January 2020 – and we all know what happened in 2020 – so there has been quite a long gap so it’s great to have it back.”

This is the supply closet of the renowned cryptid hunter, Loren Coleman. Spending years and years tracking the elusive creatures of the unknown world of cryptozoology, Dr. Coleman has become obsessed with tracking some of the most famous cryptid creatures. Unfortunately, Dr. Coleman has become so fixated on finding these critters, he has neglected his office and supply closet leaving behind him a mess of newspaper clippings, evidential findings, and forgotten equipment. But most notable of all in this disorder and chaos is a certain trickster cryptid crouched down in the corner, hiding from the world. Oh Dr. Coleman...if only you realized Bigfoot is not elusive...he is just a shy prankster.
