I created this Pope Lick Monster for the “cryptid” prompt for Mab’s Drawloween Club 2018.

Shadow baskers are fond of warm dark places and are rarely ever seen, but when they have been spotted they were basking in the shadows.
Although it hasn't been proven to be a connection, missing pets are often attributed to this legendary creature.
A good way to get rid of them is to turn the lights on.;)

South-West from Dores beach this image shows nearly the whole length of Loch Ness.
It certainly shows twenty of the twenty-five miles of its length
from Fort Augustus to Abban Water and Loch Dochfour.
The three-hundred and fifty mile fault line of which it is a part, extending from the north part of the Moray Firth to Ireland, reaches a vertical height of over a mile, when adding the height of Ben Nevis to the depth of Loch Ness.
At Urquhart Bay the chasm created by tectonic movement and subsequent glaciers, reaches 1.5 miles in width.
In this view, Urquhart Bay, is seen upper right of centre, just below the domed peak of Meall-Fhuar Mhonaidh, at 700 metres or 2,300 feet.
The plain rocks and pebbles, the calm waters and the benign ducks contrast dramatically with the metre-high waves, stormy skies and howling gale that a south-westerly gale can bring.
On this day it was no more than a giant mill-pond but in misty conditions, as darkness descends, its mood can become malevolent, sinister and un-nerving.
