At either end of the platforms of the East and West loops the rails cross over, allowing the Mail Rail trains to pass each other as they delivered the mail.
The Mail Rail tunnels were used to transport mail all around London on a network of automated underground electric trains. It opened in 1927, and only ceased service in 2003.
A westbound autorack train passes the twin cantilever signals that guarded the crossovers just west of Wellton. Unfortunately, these were replaced just a few months later.
A local American-Mexican riding club put on a dandy presentation of riding skill at our Iowa Horse Show. In this scene one of the riders switches from his horse to rein in a bareback like they use to do in the old west.
The lighting was tough on this image with the bright openings behind but I think it was good enough to post .
This is my second visit to this beautiful waterfalls near Portland. The name is Panther Creek Falls. It was nearly sunset when I took the shoots. So it was actually much darker than the photo shows.

About a mile and a half of coal is rolling down the hill about ten miles south of Bill, WY. The Union Pacific train, led by a new Tier 4 SD70ACe (SD70AH) is stretched out through the 90.5 crossover on the Orin Subdivision.
BNSF SD70ACe's #8593 & #8782 lead a Scherer coal train through the crossovers at 'Rogers' on Braswell Mountain west of Dallas, GA.
Rarely used part of the rail systems in rural Nova Scotia. One line runs directly into a concrete production facility.
