here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are
as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends
summer has come and passed
the innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends
ring out the bells again
like we did when spring began
wake me up when september ends
here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are
as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends

This material was fractured and healed more than once, which makes sense, given that it hails from "the earthquake capitol of the world" (Parkfield, CA., which sits smack-dab on San Andreas Fault). Unfortunately, It was fractured more recently than the latest healing. The resulting slabs were unstable, but this was excavated from a (relatively) stable piece. Totally worth it, with the rare green jasper, and the crosshatch veins of agate and quartz, and a bit of hematite, too.

ARCHITECTS DIARY:
i shot it few months back, basically its construction site, where hardly you can find any plantation and green landscape In background scaffolding is mounted and pharmacy department is under constructing.
No matter how chaotic it is, wildflowers will still spring up in the middle of nowhere.

this is the place where my late mother would take her afternoon naps. the posts are coconut lumber, the walls are crosshatched bamboo slats, and the roof is nipa palm leaves. a large light blue pillow can be seen resting on one of the seats. at the center is a round table made of lumber from a coconut trunk and polished. this shot was taken at midmorning under full sunlight; i was standing at the lawn and facing southeast. postprocessing is narrow and strong crosshatch.

Upper Waterton Lake and a View into the U.S. I'd captured this image many years ago on a second trip to Glacier and Waterton Lake National Parks. There's few places in the later national park that compare to standing on that bluff with a view looking across the lake waters with mountains all around. Sometimes there's no sounds but the gust of wind blowing or another soul walking by to take in that same view next to the Prince of Wales Hotel. Amazing, most definitely! The original image I captured with my Nikon D800E SLR camera is posted here on Flickr (www.flickr.com/photos/14723335@N05/11866510926/in/album-7...). But as I'd recently come across here on Flickr (www.flickr.com/photos/lizhaslam/15613890728/), I've decided to add that brilliance of sunlight and clouds even with overcast days. Which leads me to the digital painting here.
In order to paint this image, I worked on a few techniques that I'd noted on a previous image by using broader strokes except where I wanted some details on the mountainside. Another was using water colors especially with reflections off the lake waters and some places with the clouds and skies. Other things I decided to try out was with the clouds and not wanting a blah overcast sky, so I imagined cloud catching light of the late afternoon sun around sunset. Some other areas I worked on was the mountainsides and adding depth by changing the hues slightly from one to another. I also used a crosshatching type brush to add some details here and there. With the skies above, I practiced more in adding variations to the skies by painting on top of the colors with a little bit of the earth or mountainside colors towards the bottom and brighter skies with shades of green and purple. The last area I'd note is with the flowers in the foreground. The area in Waterton Lakes National Park is an overlook with only some low grass on the grounds of the Prince of Wales Hotel. I just happened to change the month to March on this years wall Sierra Club calendar and saw this field of purple owl's clover and Mexican gold poppy across a field around Saddle Mountain in Arizona...I liked that for a foreground to lead the eye to the mountains beyond!
In the center foreground of the digital painting, you'll find that stick figure image of me "hiking" with my Cubbies hat, loving my time exploring Waterton Lakes National Park...and wanting to explore so much more during my next visit one year soon!
Another fog filled day in Toronto. We seem to be getting a lot of these lately, which is rather odd for autumn. This one engulfed the CN Tower.

Spent the afternoon wandering down the extremely cold Birling Gap, and managed to take a few long exposures, of which this was my favourite, due to the crosshatching of the waves. Trying to get the movement of the water with a 1 second exposure and a ND 10 stop filter plus small tripod, and this was the only one that my unknowing subject stood still enough.

Chevrolet El Camino (5th Gen - PreFacelift) (1978-87) Engine 267cu in (4300cc) Small Block V8
Registration Number LJH 810 W (Reading)

The Chevrolet El Camino is a coupé utility vehicle unlike a conventional pickup truck the El Camino was adapted from the standard two-door Chevrolet station wagon platform and integrated the cab and cargo bed into the body. First seen in 1959 the El Camino was produced for model years 1959-60 and resumed for MY 1964-87, built over five generation in the USA and 1969-71, 1976-78 independantly in South Africa
The fifth generation was unveiled in 1978, adopting the new, more sharp-edged Malibu styling, and a one-inch longer wheelbase of 117.1 in, its doors and front end were shared with the Malibu station wagon, but for the first time the El Camino had its own unique chassis The front end featured a new single rectangular headlight design. The base engine was a 200-cubic-inch (3.3-liter) V6 that developed 95 hp xcept in California where, to meet emissions standards, the 231-cubic-inch Buick engine was the base engine. Two upgrades could be ordered: a 305-cubic-inch V8 with 145 hp or a 350cu in with 170hp.hat was only available in El Caminos and Malibu station wagons. The 1979 model got minimal changes following its debut as a redesigned "new-size" model in 1978. Alterations to the 1979 El Camino amounting to little more than a new divided grille. However, a "small-block" 267-cubic-inch (4.4-liter) V8 joined the options list and slotted between the standard 3.3-liter V6 and the optional 5.0-liter four-barrel V8
From 1982-87 the El Camino recieved a facelift with a new frontal appearance with a crosshatch grille flanked by quad rectangular headlights New under the hood for 1982 was a 105 hp (78 kW) 5.7-liter (350-cubic-inch) Diesel V8, which was also offered in Chevrolet's full-size cars

19th August Happy World Photography Day to all
"Come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord." (II Corinthians 6:17)
Last weekend we visited Lancaster County, PA, “Amish County”, which some might know from the 1985 movie “Witness” (with Harrison Ford). The Amish are an Anabaptist Christian denomination living in the United States and Canada with the largest population in Pennsylvania. One of the best known facts about the Amish is that they use horse and buggy as their main means of transportation. The Bible verse above, amongst others, encapsulates Amish cultural attitudes of separation from the outside world.
This separation from our world was one of the reasons I once again went into intensive post-processing of a picture. My first tries with B/W or selective colours went nowhere and so I returned to colours (which I love best anyway) and tried to use other means to express the “Separate World” this young Amish boy is living in (actually I was modifying the curves to get some blue into the sky, Orton Imagery to get the scene into a separate world and the crosshatch filter to finalize the picture).

This is special. One of the very first Nikon F cameras ever made. How can you tell other than the serial number? Well, the cloth shutter for a start. And then there is the crosshatch pattern on the timer lever, only seen on early models. It is an honour to be able to get a camera as rare as this. Number 77, wow.

Cadillac Coupe De Ville (4th Gen) (1971-76) Engine 500cu in (8200cc) V8 OHV
Registration Number NOC 68 P (Birmingham)
CADILLAC SET

The fourth generation De Ville was designed by Bill Murray for the 1971 model year. The new GM full-size bodies, at 64.3 inches front shoulder room (62.1 inches on Cadillac) and 63.4 inches rear shoulder room (64.0 inches on Cadillac) set a record for interior width that would not be matched until into the 1990's. Pairs of individually housed head lights were set wider apart. The V-shaped grille had an eggcrate style insert and was protected by massive vertical guards framing a rectangular license plate indentation. A wide hood with full-length windsplints, a prominent center crease and hidden windshield wipers.
In 1972 a modest frontal revision placed more emphasis on horizontal grille blades. The parking lamps were moved from the bumper to between the square bezeled headlamps, which were now set wider apart. V-shaped emblems made a return on hood and deck lid. New standard features included a bumper impact system, automatic parking brake release, passenger assist straps and flow through ventilation system.
The 1973 models had new energy absorbing bumpers Grilles were widened and had an intricate eggcrate design. In 1974 a wide eggcrate grille was used. Dual round headlamps were mounted close together in square bezels. Further outboard were double deck wraparound parking lamps. Shorter vertical grille guards appeared in about the same position as before. For 1976 airbags were introduced as an option. Styling changes for 1975 brought dual rectangular headlamp lenses flanked by rectangular cornering lights wrapped around the body. A new cross hatched grille also appeared.Sedan de Villes now featured slim triangular quarter windows that mimicked the coach windows that appeared on Coupe de Villes the previous year.. The 210bhp 500cu in V8 replaced the 472 as the standard engine. Electronic fuel injection became optional in March 1975. Another option was the Astroroof with sliding sunshade that permitted use as an electrically operated sunroof or a transparent closed skylight. An ordinary sunroof panel was also available. In 1976 the grille saw a new and finer crosshatching pattern. Cornering lamps got new horizontal chrome trim while tail lamps gained a new bold look Coupe de Villes had a new vinyl roof whose top molding served as a continuation of the door "belt" molding A Controlled (limited-slip) Differential was included for extra traction.
