A paupers' graveyard, now used as a storage depot

Ask your parents, they may have met here. With crucifix parties and lots of hot mortal symbolism, Easter is a great choice for your Spring Break. If it's a party you want, Palm Sunday is a no brainer. There is something about it that men fear and that makes them cling to their existence.

That is a detail shot of the skull and crossbones snap for Trisha's Reaper cape.

Crossbones Cemetery, Redcross Way, Southwark.

A cemetery for prostitutes licensed (pimped) by the Bishops of Winchester Palace in Southwark. When they died, after years of paying their dues to the church from their work, they were buried in this unconsecrated ground by the bishops. Later it became a burial ground for paupers, still unconscrated. It is believed that there are 15,000 people, men women and children buried here.

interesting choice of decor... when the cemetary ran out of room they used the old bones to decorate the chapel...

Stewart's mommy made the best cupcakes for everyone! She even added the girly skull and crossbones because that's Bebe's signature symbol. She's bad to the bone, didn't you know?

I don't know if you can tell but the eye sockets on the skull are heart shaped sprinkles. awwwww!

Roger arrived at the Junky Chicken rescue centre last week and is a very brave little chicken. He is a descendant of Captain James Chook and dreams of one day becoming a captain himself. At first sight he can sometimes seem a little scary but when you get to know him he is one of the sweetest chickens there is.

Roger has been made from an old top, donated to me by my sister after it was no longer wearable. He is black in colour with a white skull and crossbones pattern. His beak and comb are cut from Eco-spun felt which is made from 100% recycled bottles.

(w/r/t/ geo-tagging: the map location that I've used for this photo is a total guess based on the curves in Rt. 14; I could be off by miles for all I know...)

Another pair of comfy lounge pants made from a 100% cotton vintage sheet. This is the back view to show the cute skull and crossbones hand applique for your bum.

I need to go back to figure out what this grave reads, this is what I can make out from the photo:

Read more about Cross Bones Graveyard here:

www.crossbones.org.uk/

A shrine has been created at the gates to the site of a post-medieval burial ground in Redcross Way, Southwark. This outcasts’ graveyard was already regarded as ‘ancient’ in the 16th century, when it was known as ‘the Single Woman’s churchyard’ – a reference to the ‘Winchester Geese’, prostitutes licensed by the Bishop of Winchester to work in south London’s Liberty of the Clink.

By Victorian times it had become known as ‘Cross Bones’, the pauper’s burial ground. It was closed in 1853, described as being ‘completely overcharged with dead’.

In the early 1990s it was partly dug up during work on the Jubilee Line Extension. Museum of London archaeologists removed 148 skeletons, an estimated 1% of 15,000 burials.
