Crisp morning

1/28/2018

This is my first Panorama with my dlsr

A nice sunny morning for a walk in the snow.

This little fella had his eye on me!

A crisp bright late December day in 1978 finds the daily Belt transfer rolling past the Northwestern's diesel house at Proviso yard. The two gray and black Alcos have delivered their train to Yard 9, grabbed their caboose, and are headed for Clearing Yard at Bedford Park. The Belt's 600's were always a great catch in Alco-starved ChicagoLand. Behind the 604 you can spot the cab of one of the semi-rare CNW "Falcon" SD40-2's, the 6922. I believe there were only two of them, and yes, I did manage to get a shot of it, despite the euphoria of seeing a C424...

Cold and crisp morning today

Macro Mondays and the theme of "Vegetables".

For this theme I was still thinking about what I was going to do on Monday morning and seeing a few different vegetables that we had at home already uploaded to the group I decided to go to the shop and get a bag of vegetable crisps that I often have as part of a meal deal.

It contains Beetroot, Carrot and Parsnip and I think will still qualify for the theme.

Chelsea grabs her favorite teddy bear and puts him in his pumpkin outfit. "ok Mr. Bear let's go on an adventure!" Chelsea proclaims excitedly and walks outside and is welcomed by the cool autumn air and sounds of the wind scattering the dried leaves around the walkway so she jumps on the leaves one by one listening to them crunch, she smiles.

Don't let that little patch of blue sky fool you......it's COLD! This was right after the snow stopped falling the other day and the storm cleared out. I tried to get out to get the snow still on the trees, but despite the 20 degrees, the second the sun hits the branches the snow melts off. We are just outside the range of the Polar Vortex hitting this week so I will be above freezing. Please take care of yourself if you are in the areas of the dangerous cold!

Frost capped trees

One of the few cool and crisp mornings we have had. Funny thing is this snow and ice was only present on this side of the river and for only a couple of hours.

Elan Valley Dams.....

Still finding images form last year. Was bit of a chilly start to the day

I haven't baked much over the summer, it's just too hot. Our Apples were ready so I made a crisp with some of them. I used all the Freedom Apples and one Liberty Apple in this. I used Pears and Frozen Organic Raspberries too. I made a Vegan Cinnamon Oat Flour/Oatmeal Topping and baked it. It was so good with a little Maple Syrup drizzled over top of it warm.

Moonlit river in the Rocky Mountains. A little snow rests atop some boulders.

Possibly the worlds most photographed tree, hated by photographers worldwide, yet it still appears in and wins major photography competitions.

I have shot here once before, but conditions didn't really present me with a decent shot so I wanted to get my own version of the famous Wanaka tree. What can I say, the tree was there, I was there......

Shot on a very clear and crisp -3 morning in Wanaka, New Zealand.

I heard the 64.0 detector go off earlier while at West Chicago, so I made my way over to La Fox to see what I could find. Per signal indication, it seemed that Chicago Terminal DS was taking the eastbound down the center track at Elburn and soon enough the 46.1 detector went off. A septet of EMDs, including two ACes, a GP, and four 70Ms head for Chicago proper with clear signals ahead and a brisk tailwind.

Crisp Point Lighthouse. One of the most secluded lighthouses in the Upper Peninsula and worth every minute of the drive.
