CREATURES #5 is an interactive installation by Pier Giorgio De Pinto supplemented with the presence of the dancer Katja Vaghi. She will observe, reproduce and elaborate the movement generated by the audience in front of the digital installation.
Beside the five traditional senses, important to our everyday activities are balance and the kinesthetic sense or proprioception. These last two are central to dance. Dance thus work predominantly with our six and seven sense! The installation wants to make the audience aware of their and other people’s movement and convey the message that any movement produced by any one can potentially generate dance material.
A camera via software will use webcam effects decoding people in front of a screen. The installation modifies the result of the effects thanks to movement and strength of natural light caught by the camera. Similarly, at set interval, the dancer will observe, reproduce and elaborate the movements produced by the audience in front of the installation.
The intent is to make the audience conscious of their own movements and that of others. When interacting with the installation they will mostly be aware of their intentions but not of the aesthetic potential they are generating. Thus, the audience will have the choice of continuing interacting with the installation and/or with the dancer.
Many thanks to Tiziana Conte, Ludovica Molo, Luca Crosta, i2a International Institute for Architecture i2a and the staff of Festa Danzante.

This creature was created for a competition and won, making it a new mascot for the cg-nation.com forums.
This is a posed version.

The New Creature:
2 Cor. 5:17, "Wherefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature: the old things are passed away; behold, they are become new."
Eph. 2:10, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
"Your the One who looks at me and sees that I was meant to be more than just a beautiful mess" ("You are Everything" Matthew West)
When you let God work in your mess He makes it beautiful, yet He also sees that more is meant to be, and He makes you renewed, and makes you into a meaningful form. He can do that because He is the One with exceeding abundant grace who can do more than you ask or think.
In the blues [note, most are at the top] you see His divinity, in the reds [closer to earth] you see His humanity, His blood poured out on the cross for our redemption. The two meet and there's purple, His majesty and royalty. He makes His new creations His sons and daughters, so the person form coming out of His working in the mess is also purple, and white- pure in His sight. You could also see it as His righteousness washing over us.
The boys enjoy lying on our old California King-sized comforter, which we loosely form into a dog-sized bed.
It normally rests on the floor in our bedroom and sees frequent use, especially when the weather turns too warm to spend the night on The Big Bed with us.

Bringing fictional creatures into existence within a live art and theatrical context.
Creature is a cross-disciplinary project led by SDNA in collaboration with pioneering digital media artists, neuro-scientists, electronic musicians, dancers and physical performers, and explores the ways in which we can bring fictional creatures into existence within a live art and theatrical context. The first stage of research focused on the exploration of the ideal conditions needed for the human imagination to conjure visions of a “Creature.”
This 1805 illustration (artist unknown) from the Waseda University Theater Museum shows a mermaid that was reportedly captured in Toyama Bay. According to the accompanying text, the creature measured 10.6 meters (35 ft) long.
