I saw this quote mentioned in a post about Ebert's early days as a sports writer. It's something of which I need to be reminded.

This was such an interesting process.

I started to write everything that popped into my head, and ended up with a page full of "definitions" of what creativity is to me.

In the end, this one idea kept repeating itself, and was pretty much the foundation of every other sentences.

I tend to restrict myself so much : to what I think I should be or should do, to what I think I can't do or is out of my reach.

The truth is that most of the time, I'm the one who chooses not to step out of these self-imposed boundaries, mostly out of fear. When I do step out though, whatever the situation, it just feels so right.

So, for me, creativity is allowing yourself to be everything you can be, everything you choose to be, embrace all the possibilities, all the different routes, go beyond the

boundaries of what should be or what is expected and walk the other path.

The one that's truly yours.

Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. [Gen 1:2-3]

I'm thoroughly enjoying these smoke pictures. Hope you like them too.

Creativity is something we all struggle with from time to time.

Only 1 in 4 people feel they are fulfilling their creative potential.

Whilst it is true that our creativity tends to peak very early, we can do a number of things to stimulate out creative output.

Studies have shown that simple things such as going for a walk, sleeping and showering all have a demonstrable impact on creativity levels.

The latest findings in neuroscience suggest that we can learn to be creative by experimenting, exploring, questioning assumptions, using imagination and synthesing information.
