This was a gift for my friend Steve. He gave me a great light made out of circuit boards which I call my "creativity lamp". I had it in my workshop and turned it on whenever I was working on something. I told people who asked, "It works like a thinking cap."
I wanted to return the favor, so I made a "creativity beacon" for Steve. It lights up with his favorite color: green.
Every now and then, a few of us will head on over to my mate James' place, hang out, watch a couple of movies and discuss them in depth afterwards. It always makes for an enjoyable evening.
To give you an idea of the calibre of cinema we select to sit down and experience, here are some of the titles we've watched recently: Battle Royale (2000), Fist of Legend (1994) and No Country For Old Men (2007).
The screen still you see above is from No Country For Old Men. Great film. I had seen it before, but wanted to see it again, and as it turned out, I noticed things that I hadn't on the first viewing. This lead to great further discussion in the glow of the paused credits. Rad.
Each day - for 365 days in total - I will shoot and upload an image. The only rule I have set for myself is that each shot must include myself - in some way, shape or form - and anything edible.
With this, I will be pushing myself to be creative on a daily basis and hopefully develop a better eye for the image that speaks a thousand words along the way.
I hope you enjoy a year in the life of Dre... and hopefully my diet will get better throughout the journey.

The central idea of my conceptual series is creativity, and how people express their feelings through their works, and all of the emotions used in my photos are stress to better tie together my series. The exploration in my series is through the different types of creativity used to get through the good times and the hard times in life through ones’ works; represented in my photos as getting through the hard times. Picture one is of someone writing to relieve their stress. Picture two is acting with two people, and one is very much stressing over her script. Picture 3 is of someone playing the ukulele for relief. Picture for is of someone taking pictures in an attempt to not be so overwhelmed. And Picture five is of someone in disapproval what she's made and stressed.

Still waiting for spring to roll around. With it will come a variety of new subjects, especially for macros. In the mean time, Im not feeling particularly creative, and I havent been taking pictures of much of anything.
On a more positive note, Ive managed to book my first paid shoot (senior pictures). I thought it would take a few more years before I would be able to get people interested in my pictures enough to actually pay for them!
With this shot I would have liked to use a third light, or my second as a rim, here to avoid my head melting into the blackness, but I dont have a third strobe and didnt have room behind me for a rim.
Stamp set is from Practicing Creativity's latest release: The Whole Cycle... Also used their newly released fabric tape for the basket...
