So I get a text message this morning from my sister who informs me that she is getting on a plane to Chicago for business and that she will be checking her "fresh coffee" set once she arrives.
The pressure!
I hadn't planned.
So this is what you get when you command creativity from Chicago.

It's been really hitting me lately how much typography is one of my weakest points so I decided to try my first all text image tonight. I couldn't get everything how I wanted but Im happy with it for a first attempt

Cause for Creativity: Tour da Arts
When? Saturday, August 22, 2009
Where? Santa Monica Museum of Art, Bergamot Station, Building G1, 2525 Michigan Avenue, Santa Monica, California.
Bring your family and friends of all ages and pedal on over to the Santa Monica Museum of Art on Saturday, August 22 for a special hands-on art-making workshop and cultural bike tour of Santa Monica arts venues, with special programming at each stop. Cause for Creativity: Tour da Arts also includes food and drinks along the way.
The bike tour, led by C.I.C.L.E.’s Urban Expeditions’ ride team, consists of a leisurely 8-mile loop throughout the city of Santa Monica. Beginning at SMMoA, the tour will make its first stop at The Broad Stage and continue on to the Miles Playhouse. From there, bikers will travel to the 18th Street Arts Center and then back to SMMoA. The tour will proceed at a slow, social pace and obey all traffic laws. All levels are welcome!
Event Schedule
1-2 pm: Registration at SMMoA
2-4 pm: Workshop Make original bike flags to wave your creativity to the world!
4-5 pm: Bike check-up Get your tires checked, attach your new bike flag, enjoy snacks provided by Whole Foods, and indulge in a made-to-order ice cream sandwich by Coolhaus.
5-8:30 pm: Urban Expeditions bike tour led by C.I.C.L.E. A guided bike tour to some of Santa Monica’s most exciting arts venues, featuring live music, artist studio visits, and exhibition tours.

Stop 3: Miles Playhouse: Dance Hall with Big Cats Swing Band

curator Pilar Tompkins and interactive workshop with project room artist Sandra de la Loza Return to the Santa Monica Museum of Art: SMMoA will stay open until 8 pm.
What to Bring: A bicycle in good running order or pre-register to rent a bicycle at SMMoA through Perry’s Bike Rental (see below). Limited supply of free bike rentals available. First-come, first-served. All participants under 18 must wear a helmet and be escorted by a parent or guardian. Children under age 9 are recommended to be on a tag-along, bike trailer, tandem, or other safe child-carrying device.
Bike Rentals: Reserve a FREE bike and helmet through Perry’s Bike Rental by emailing rc3138@aol.com. Email reservations must be received by August 20th with “SMMoA” in the subject header. Please specify Adult Male, Adult Female, or Child with approximate age and/or height in email.

Sent to me by The LEGO Group for the LEGO DOTS campaign. All creations built with it are my own, and not influenced by TLG.
Boxes of: Canvases (plates, bracelets), Connectors (couplers, 1x8 plates, new bracket, chains, shoe slides), Tiles (1/4 solid colors, 1/2 round solid colors [like cool yellow], round solid colors [like Lavender], and round with prints [like rainbow poop ~ LOL] ).
Took the kids to see this exhibition last week. It really was excellent. I recommend that you allow yourself plenty of time though. We found that three hours flew past and it cost about ÂŁ25 for the three of us. Better to go in the morning and make a day of it. There is so much to do and see. It's a pity they don't seem to do a year long pass. I'd happily pay for it. Needless to say my kids and this big kid loved it and we might even try and go back this weekend as they're offering workshops with some of Aardman's animators.
I particularly enjoyed the jam splatting workshop and the plasticine forest. Good to se the Wallace and Gromit sets. Buddding stop frame animators will be interested to see the scale and intricate level of detail in the set designs. Great contraptions and interesting information on intellectual property issues too.
Highly recommended!

This is a fabulous interactive exhibition stuffed full of crazy innovation, some amazing examples of ideas that have gone from a twinkle in someone's eye to reality and a huge range of activites, fun and games which stimulate your creative juices. (Oh and, of course Wallace and Gromit!)
"Wallace and Gromit present... A World of Cracking Ideas" is sponsored by the Intellectual Property Office, presented by Aardman Animations and produced by SGA.
The exhibition will be here from April 2nd until November 30th 2010.

Many Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) graduates showed their creativity through their unique mortarboards and attire. But for some graduates, this was also a way to tell the stories of their journeys and where they are headed as they âDepart to Serve.â
As students marched into Bowman Gray Stadium during the Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 19, they shared their messages of gratitude, accomplishment and encouragement.
Dealva Glaspie, a biotechnology graduate, had a decorated mortarboard with the message, âI turned my canâts into cans, and my dreams into plans.â Glaspie is the first in her family to earn a college degree. âI finally made it. I turned my dreams into plans,â Glaspie said.
Sherabiah Olglesby, a behavioral sciences and social work graduate, wore a stole with the imprint âblack grads matter,â to show her pride as a graduate of a historically Black college and university (HBCU).
âA lot of my friends went to predominately white institutions and believe that their degrees are better, but thatâs not true,â Olglesby said. âA lot of graduate schools want students from WSSU because they know that we have been properly prepared and are ready for the work force, and I think that is great.â
Olglesby plans to attend graduate school in the fall.
Taylor Gaulden, an interdisciplinary studies graduate, had a picture of her recently deceased grandmother on her mortarboard. âI promised my granny that I was going to do it, and I did.,â Gaulden said.
James Bullock, a sports management graduate and former member of the Rams football team, was at the front of the processional with a large crown atop graduation cap. About 25 family members from Cleveland were there to cheer him on.
Berenice Rodriguez, a nursing graduate whose parents migrated from Mexico, displayed the message, âLo Hicimos. Gracias mami y papi,â which means âWe did it. Thank you, mom and dad.â Rodriguez is the first in her family to graduate from college. âI did what Iâm doing for them.â
Class of 2017
WSSU recognized more than 1,200 graduates during the ceremony.
The ceremony honored WSSU students who earned their degrees in summer and fall 2016 and spring 2017. Many outstanding students were among the class of 2017. More than 1,100 undergraduates and 129 graduates received degrees.
Graduates included:
Sisters Eomba F. and Edith Pungu, immigrants from the Congo who are earning their masterâs in nursing degree to become family nurse practitioners. The sisters will cross the stage together for the second time as WSSU graduates.
Nursing Bridge to Ph.D. Scholars Nicole Calhoun, Morine Cebert and LaKita M.J. Knight, who will earn their masterâs degree and continue their education this fall as doctorate in nursing students at Duke University.
Taylor Evans, a third-generation educator who has several job offers in special education.
Victoria Segwick, a chemistry major who will attend the Medical Sciences Ph.D. Program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Anthony Wells, a marketing major who plans to join AllianceBerstein as a private wealth consultant in New York City. While at WSSU, he studied abroad in Brazil and the Dominican Republic and studied at the Harvard University Business School.

Dr. Donna Gwyn Wiggins, associate professor of music, was awarded the 2017 Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Dr. Brenda Allen, provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs, received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters for her contributions during her eight-year tenure at WSSU. Allen was recently selected as the president of Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.
