"Unbind Me," created by Duncan Rawlinson, embodies a visual exploration of transformation and technological synthesis through digital artistry. The work showcases Rawlinson's integration of advanced digital photography with artificial intelligence techniques, resulting in a captivating image that delves into the unraveling of structured form. It juxtaposes the precision inherent in technology with the fluidity of transformation, providing a glimpse into the dynamic potential that emerges from fusing distinct artistic methodologies.

Questi giorni nel mio sketchbook...

cristinaswatercolors.blogspot.com/2011/04/these-days-in-m...

... I let me go, trying not to worry about the result, to see what can come out.

... mi lascio andare, cercando di non preoccuparmi del risultato, per vedere che cosa ne può venir fuori.

Yesterday, the head of my giraffe was dryer, so I decided to glue the eyes. I first baked them (to make the Porcelana paint harden) then glued them in place with hot glue. I noticed that the eyes were not alike. One seems less shiny... well.... so be it. I don't have time to make another. I also added an eyelid. Now, the head has to dry for some more days. Today, while I was taking those photos, something strange happened... I had already read about that in some magazines about doll creation and it was my turn.... the giraffe began to talk to me in my head! LOL!!!! :) She told me that it was OK if her eyes were not alike, since she has glaucoma and a cataract in the right one. And she also told me that she was not going to tell me her name right now. She going to wait to have her little costume! DUH!!! :P Today, I will try to make her a small giraffe-doll, since I can't work on her for a few more days...

Design Thinking follows the principles of interactions in nature.

In a dusky alley in Hong Kong, neon lights flickered like distant stars. Mei Lin wandered, lost in thought, her heart a canvas stretched taut with yearning. Vivid hues of a mural danced along the brick walls. Each stroke was a memory of splendour and struggle, a rendition of the human spirit in an eternal quest for meaning.

creative process jacob’s ladder

The final project for SCAD’s graduate Design Methodologies course, this project is a

three-dimensional representation of my design process in the form of a functioning Jacob’s Ladder; a folk toy consisting of blocks of wood held together by interlaced ribbons. When the ladder is held by the top block and tipped to a ninety-degree angle, one by one the blocks appear to cascade down the ribbons: an entertaining

and bewildering visual illusion.

Each panel represents a different integral part of my methodology : nostalgia, metamorphosis, observation, association, imagination, and execution. The ladder fittingly demonstrates the interconnectivity of the various elements of my design methodologies while also representing my fascination with childhood objects.

Stage 2 - large sketch - pencil

Scanner as Camera No. 09, 2025, Digital scan, 11.5” x 8”

The background is painted with watercolors: on the left I sticked the photo with tape, then with the pencil I sketched the landscape; on the right, with a stencil from a photo I alternately removed color with a sponge, or added color with a black pencil.

I love this little statue flower holder my aunt has, which she calls "Murph" after her cat who passed a few years ago. Good ol' Murph was quite the character; warm and cuddly until he decided he had had enough, then you got a swat before he walked off.

Details (for Dutchee): Nikon D40, Nikon 50mm f/1.8D at f/1.8 with 1/500sec exposure. Added a B&W adjustment layer, played with curves & levels, unsharp mask, highlight/shadow.

Jeff and I decided to explore what was at the bottom of a dark staircase while at the Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda, NY. I was happily rewarded when I found the dressing rooms. Everyone else had some fantastic shots of the main theater, but to my knowledge no one has this scene but I. :-)

The original was kind of dull and boring, so I spruced it up by changing it to a duotone, added a diffuse glow, desaturated by 75% and tinkered with the highlights/shadows. I think it goes well with the 4 images of stage actresses on the left, more classic looking than originally.

This past weekend I finally got our 1930 Hudson running! It took me an hour of cranking it over (by hand with the crank; doesn't have a modern starter) but she finally kicked over and purred like a kitten. Shortly after, I had to fix a leaky radiator and some soft tires, but finally the Mrs. and I were able to take her for a little drive around town. We honked the horn at just about everyone who waved, and she certainly draws looks when we drive by folks who have never see something like this. :-)

Our Hudson has been in my family since 1930, which makes this car so special to me. It's bitter sweet that we now have it, in that my uncle who restored it to it's current state, just passed away one month ago. I had always hoped he'd be around in person to teach me the inner workings of this car, but I know he's there with me in spirit to help me keep her running smooth.
