One thing Wallmart is good for is you can get a lot of something for cheap. For example. Paint brushes. Here used as a wig? Combine that with the punkfunk of Mick Boisvert and we got ourselves some fun!

Artistic make-up works with face painting portrait photo shoot and pieces of wigs and twist ties.

Face painting from the “Nordic Awards” competition in Helsinki, hosted by WBA.

The skull splits her face in two – glitter, stitches and shadows flowing into the perfectly matching teal hair. A portrait right on the edge between beauty and nightmare.

Artams Series. Acrylic painted Plastic wrap with a dash of destroyed wig.

at the dance club:

A portrait-style image of a person with full upper-body fluorescent body paint photographed under ultraviolet/blacklight illumination. The subject’s face and torso are covered with high-contrast neon patterns in orange, green, blue, pink, and red. The paint appears reactive to UV light, producing a strong glow effect. The setting looks like a nighttime or indoor event space with dark surroundings and scattered colored lights. Another partially visible painted person stands at the right edge of the frame.

Visual details

Lighting: Blacklight / UV illumination with very low ambient light

Paint style: Neon body paint with abstract and organic motifs

Face paint: Symmetrical pattern with flame-like orange shapes on the forehead and striped accents on cheeks and chin

Torso paint: Swirling, radial, and vein-like lines across chest, shoulders, and neck

Color palette: Fluorescent orange, lime green, cyan, magenta, violet, and red against dark shadows

Environment: Likely festival, glow party, or UV body-art event

Composition: Centered subject, medium close-up, shallow background detail

Mood: High energy, theatrical, psychedelic

"What we commonly call fire. It is not really fire, for fire is an excess of heat and a sort of ebullition; but in reality, of what we call air, the part surrounding the earth is moist and warm, because it contains both vapour and a dry exhalation from the earth." - Fire Element (wikipedia.com)

Note:

Fire element interpretation. All ambient lighting.

We love shooting with Kc, a photographer's delight. Kc is an amazing person - wife, mother, martial arts expert, makeup up artist, and she puts up with us. Can't ask for a better person to shoot with! Kc wanted to do a zombie makeup look and then broke her foot. No worries; she showed up in a cast and that didn't slow her down at all. I'm not a big gun fan but she wanted some photos with it and I know not to argue with Kc. I had a brief shoot with her before she was model-napped from me - again!

I took these photos at the end of September 2021 at a Boise cemetery.

Face prep*

Black eye shadow from the middle of my nose to all the way up the inside of my hairline. A tint of green shimmer eye shadow to compliment the green accessories in my hair. Black liquid eyeliner around the eyes to bring more depth. And just clear gloss for the lips. Est.20-30mins

Hair prep*

Sections of hair from the sides of the head pulled to the front and pinned. Back part of the hair lifted up to create a high mound. Then the fun part, adding hair extensions. Since I don’t actually have two round hair buns, I had to work with two pony tails that I curled inward and pinned up, looks like a small hairy bird nest. The buns were placed on the sides of my head, kind of like Princess Leia. Accessories added were feathers in the front of the bangs and a few on the top part of the buns. Lastly, a long dirty gold necklace criss crossed along the top of my head, the length of the necklace was long enough to fall below the buns. Est. 30-40mins.

Amidst the vibrant chaos of the “I Love Me” expo in Helsinki, we found a quiet corner. Alexandra stood beneath the soft light, her face adorned with Adriana’s creation. A constellation of crystals, framed by deep red tones and steady calm. While the crowd buzzed around us, she became stillness itself, radiating both fragility and strength through her gaze.

After my Ancient Cray Portrait series, which used 96 crushed up crayons, I was left with the wrapper for those crayons. Why not make a mask out of them I thought to myself.

Took me forever to find a way to carefully control smash marbles here. Finally figured it out by heating them up in an oven on high for a while then using a vice to crush them. Painting Rose was the easiest part, all she did was lay down on the floor for an hour while I painted streaks on her

This one didn't make it. Didn't care to much for this one but thought I would post it up anyway.

Building it up again! 3 years gone. Flickr had deleted my previous account due to the fact that i was trying to promote my workshop. There was description on about 4 photos out of 1700+, just deleted.

So, here we are again, building it up slowly.

Cheers,

Oat

A departure from my multi-personality series, "She, the Ananthous" will explore more organic and textured imagery. Characters born of earth, stone, flora and feather will serve as guides through the twist and lilt of forest dark. Pulling inspiration from decay, beauty from the bereft, "She, the Ananthous" will serve as an eerie fable of mother nature's oddities.

In the pulse of Helsinki’s Creative Makeup Awards, she wore her beauty like protection.

Crystals clung to her skin. Delicate, precise, unbreakable! Turning light into a shield and shadow into strength.

Smoky eyes, lacquered edges, leather against the throat… every detail felt intentional, like armor forged for a softer kind of battle.

In the quiet between demonstrations, she didn’t just pose. She held her ground, radiant and untouchable.

My inaugural session with the incredibly talented singer Alanna Sterling. While I continue to experiment with the LIFX lighting system I'm discovering more and more interesting lighting combinations.

If your in the Toronto area and you get a chance to check out one of her shows I highly recommend it.

She came from a world painted in light and circuitry — half dream, half data.

Saara stood still under the neon haze, her eyes reflecting distant galaxies.

The air shimmered with color, every hue alive with pulse and rhythm.

Created by the South Korean artist Chai Hyun Kim, her cosmic armor and metallic gaze carried the echo of other worlds.

In Helsinki, at the “I Love Me” expo, the boundary between art and reality blurred — and for a moment, the future felt alive.
