Black wings with a touch of gold. White roses like a halo. The makeup is bright and precise, like a promise written on skin.

Continuing the portrait series using flowers to accentuate the make-up design. The idea with this series is to make a collection of different colors for different months. This red set is for January.

I finally got some motivation tonight! Simple plan - messy hair, added hair extentions to the shoulders and some crazy make-up and there you have it. For some reason this shot reminds me of Parker Posey in that Blade movie. I love her but she was really bad in that movie. I think it was the overall look to the shot that made me feel that way. side note - I have a few other photos from these series that I might post but this was by far my favorite.
cheers -
Random thought - In the fall I'm taking some photography classes, can't wait.

This was a lot of fun to do, but I did make a little mess on the floor. Lets hope no one noticed.
About a year and a half ago I taught a photo workshop at the World Bodypainting Festival in Austria. While our group focused on photographing, the festival also ran bodypainting and creative makeup sessions in parallel.
At lunchtime I slipped over to Jasmiina’s creative makeup workshop, just to ask a small favor: would her participants and their models like to join us in the evening? They were more than welcome on the photo workshop set, and we’d love to photograph the looks once the day calmed down.
It turned into the nicest bonus for everyone: fresh artistry, new faces, and that shared festival energy, where a quick conversation becomes an extra session of light, color, and portraits.

One thing Wallmart is good for is you can get a lot of something for cheap. For example. Paint brushes. Here used as a wig? Combine that with the punkfunk of Mick Boisvert and we got ourselves some fun!
Valeriia at Creative Jam in Vipiteno. An angel carved from ice.
Her breath slips into the air and finds the back of your neck first: a quiet warning.
Lace blooms across her brow, silver horns rise like glacier ridges, and dark tears split the white like fractures in ice.
Whatever she reaches for goes still: Beautiful, silent, perfectly frozen.

A sugar skull is never only about death. It is also about memory, ornament, pride, and the stubborn grace of being seen. Letizia held all of that in one gaze at Villa Lora. Color against shadow. Flowers against bone. A portrait that stands very still and says enough.

’T is you that are the music, not your song.
The song is but a door which, opening wide,
Lets forth the pent-up melody inside,
Your spirit’s harmony, which clear and strong
Sing but of you. Throughout your whole life long
Your songs, your thoughts, your doings, each divide
This perfect beauty; waves within a tide,
Or single notes amid a glorious throng.
The song of earth has many different chords;
Ocean has many moods and many tones
Yet always ocean. In the damp Spring woods
The painted trillium smiles, while crisp pine cones
Autumn alone can ripen. So is this
One music with a thousand cadences.

They stood beneath the lights like a vision pulled from a darker myth. Blue roses, jeweled horns, and a face turned almost ghostly made them feel less like models and more like an apparition called into the room. This where two of three live promo makeups created before an audience in Helsinki during the World Championship of Creative Makeup and the Nordic bodypainting awards. A performance, a transformation, and a moment where beauty became something untamed.

After my Ancient Cray Portrait series, which used 96 crushed up crayons, I was left with the wrapper for those crayons. Why not make a mask out of them I thought to myself.
