Happy 5 years, Creative Commons!

The Arizona desert while moving to Texas. The moving truck was flat out at 68 mph - the big rigs didn't have that problem.

Recently I went to meet up with the founders of Nomiku, the first immersion circulator designed for the home cook who got its start from a successful Kickstarter campaign and successfully raised $600,000 over its targeted $200,000 from 1,800 backers back in 2012.

The team is now in Hong Kong as they work on getting their production lines going in China to fulfil orders. After many delays, I was told that it should be shipped by July in 2013.

Pictured is the Nomiku founders Lisa Q. Fetterman (CEO, currently pregnant), Abe Fetterman (CTO, Lisa’s husband) and Wipop Bam Suppipat (product design) doing tricks with the spoon after a meal at a Spanish restaurant in Hong Kong.

A national exhibition of beer and food for which nearly 50 attending American 'craft' breweries poured two of their beers, matching each with one food item.

Clipper City Brewing Company (of Baltimore, Maryland) demonstrated the versatility of beer's flavors by deliberately pouring only one beer —its Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale, an herbal, citrusy IPA (India Pale Ale)— and pairing it with three separate food items. Pictured (left to right):

Windy today. Decided to not go out in the desert and be pelted by dust all day. Drove out to the Santa Fe Depot again in San Bernardino. Ended being windblown all day, just no dust. First thing I see as I get to the depot is someone I kinda' know. PasadenaSub Colin. Kid who's running a nice YouTube channel filming freights, and Metrolink videos. You should check out his channel at: www.youtube.com/c/PasadenaSubColin Also check out my man JonanJello photographing and filming freight graffiti on THE daily! 352 videos and counting!! www.youtube.com/user/jonanjello

Shot today's photos on a few lenses I ended up switching lenses between two cameras. My normal lens for freights is the Fujifilm 23mm f/2, but being so close to the tracks at the depot I mostly used the 7Artisans 7.5mm f/2.8. It's hard to use anything else that close and capture the pieces straight on. Most of these shots I'm between 10-25 or so feet away from the train. Much closer than I normally shoot when I'm out on a hike. Still getting used to shooting this close. The cars roll by much faster when your this close!

Cameras: Fujifilm X-Pro3 & Fujifilm X-E3

Lenses: 7Artisans 7.5mm f/2.8, Fujifilm 16mm F/2.8 & Fujifilm 23mm F/2

I still revel in what elegant complexity arises from such simple ingredients. Two rectangles on a laptop display running below full brightness, a little organically induced camera motion, et voila!
