Michigan has gotten a few Brisk mornings the past few days so I dressed like a Snow woman & proceeded to get out & freeze my arse off to capture my Creative Macro abilities. I wanted to stretch my possibilities to more of an extreme & this is what I have come up with. Enjoy & stay warm!
This tall and graceful Panicum grass produces airy flower panicles in summer. Shooting hand held, I chose to explore the angles these panicles make as they branch off from the main stem. I set the main stem on a diagonal, to suggest movement, and included three lateral panicle branches, each emerging at a different angle, to give the image a three dimensional quality. Two of the branches are lit, so as to appear as white trails against the dark background. The narrow depth of field blurs the lines, whilst the plane of focus crosses the main stem, revealing detail and helping to anchor the image and draw the eye.
The farm house sadly is trashed and burnt down once an amazing home and beautiful, so it was creative macro time other than a gem of a tractor which will be processed soon !!
all my Macro work is single exposure hand help , i tried 3 exposures yesterday and a tripod as it was dark in the barn , not sure i like the results , So i have only used 1 raw exposure for the images posted form the abandoned farm .

A nuisance in the backyard...but dandelion seeds are good source for lot of creative macro and close-up shots.
Yesterday was a beautiful day. participating in a workshop dedicated to creative macro photography, I took lots of photos immersed in the scents and atmosphere of an enchanted place. I propose here some shots that I have set out at the end of the day. I hope you like them. good week

May is tulip month in my garden. On this particular May morning, overnight rain meant that several of the tulip blooms had raindrops hanging from their undersides. The low angled sunlight was creating highlights as it touched each droplet.
The tulip shape is so recognisable, I felt it's entire inclusion was not required. Moving in closer enabled the image to become more intimate. A soft focus on the tulip petals and a narrow depth of field, allowed the raindrop to fall out of focus and for the highlight to be rendered as a white orb suspended beneath the unmistakable tulip form. A low shooting angle meant the more distant blooms could form a soft backdrop, graduating from deep red through to orange.
I don't do a lot of flower art, but as I was putting on a Creative Macro class, and had over $100 worth of flowers on hand for students, I figured I might as well shot a couple myself.
Same item in the cloud dome with all the detail clearly visible and no blown out highlights from a flash.
