As soon as I saw these sticks, my first thought was "this is art by nature" I looooooved the way they looked against the dry, earthly, background tones!

The bush was such a mess, I didn't think I'd be able to do much with it...but when I spotted this section with some space, I cropped it here...

I hope you like it as much as I do!

Have a great night/day, everyone!

With love!

Nat :)

I’ve given much thought to this week’s theme. Photographically I’ve been in a creative slump since the middle of 2016. Three years ago my husband of 41 years passed away, and I’ve spent the time since getting rid of things, downsizing and trying to build a life on my own. Last May I moved into a newly built home in an “empty nester” community. It has been a really good move for me, but it has left me mentally, physically and emotionally exhausted. After 36 years in one place, I am surprised at how challenging the adjustment has been. So my story starts with rest and recovery that will hopefully lead to renewed creativity in my photography.

I thought I’d jumpstart things with a new macro lens. I’ve been wanting the 60mm for at least a year and a half, and finally decided to order it. It came, I took this picture of it and was planning to use it for this theme, and then realized I had mistakenly ordered the wrong lens! This is the AF 60mm and I need the AF-S! So I have to send it back and exchange it for the correct one. So my photographic story starts with a frustration and a delay. Hopefully by Week 3’s theme I’ll be able to do something creative with my new lens! :-)

ODC Three

After …Roger at www.flickr.com/photos/romair/ using the #LeathermanRebar and then then #ACEBEAM LED torch

A few days ago, I treated myself with a tammy 90mm. Obviously it was a decision inspired by thousands of creative macros seen in flickr and 1x.com.

Today morning I set up a shot, hoping I would get a prize winning shot on the first click: silly me!

Lessons learned:

1. Getting something in focus at this scale is horribly impossible. And this was not even 1:1.

2. Lighting is impossible too, and of which I have no clue at all.

3. At this level even the heartbeats seems to get magnified.

4. I have a really really really long way to go in this field.

SIGH!!

But I like the abstractness of the shot. Hope you like my first effort too.

Michigan has gotten a few Brisk mornings the past few days so I dressed like a Snow woman & proceeded to get out & freeze my arse off to capture my Creative Macro abilities. I wanted to stretch my possibilities to more of an extreme & this is what I have come up with. Enjoy & stay warm!

This is a photo of metal art on an antique water jug, there are tiny patterns like this all over the water jug. This particular pattern is probably a centimeter or so big.

Happy Macro Monday :)

These colors remind me of sherbet sherbert ice cream! :) Hope you're having a great weekend. This was inspired by one of Bryan's videos about creative macros.

Common Morel / morchella esculenta. 04/04/17.

Two Common Morels, one fresh and one past its best.

The dry, aged specimen in the foreground with its chocolate brown tones had a magnificent conical cap. There were no signs of any invertebrate damage on it, unlike the other one.

I liked the contrasts between the two, also that they were growing amongst a patchwork of Ground Ivy, so I attempted a few creative shots using selective focus.

BEST VIEWED LARGE.
