Here is another one of my Water & Oil creations. I use Elements and Topaz Studio for the effects.
A former high school classmate asked if I would be interested in collaborating with his group Gojo Ensemble and a videographer, to make a video with his music and my water & oil images. Of course I said yes. So fun! Enjoy the youtube video.

Same flower as yesterday's post, but the flower is in a different setting.
Sometimes one has to get creative and think outside the box. I cut this flower from one of our planters, leaving a 10-inch stem on it. Then I weaved the stem through several leaves of our Japanese Maple tree.
It nestled nicely against the dark red leaves and I clicked my shutter, resulting in this low-key but colorful image.
Enjoy!

Today marks my 5th anniversary on Flickr.
It feels incredible that five years have already passed.
I opened this account during a difficult moment, a few months after lockdown. I remembered an old schoolmate who, back in the early 2000s, kept a Flickr profile full of self-portraits and creative macro shots (she deactivated her account over a decade ago). That memory nudged me to look at my own archive — nearly 12,000 photos collected over the years (including plenty of blurry or out-of-focus experiments!). I thought it might be interesting to share some of them online, as many carried personal memories of people and places.
That decision also pushed me to pick up my Canon camera more often. And somewhere along the way… five years have gone by.
About two years ago, I also became very interested in MidJourney and started creating AI images. I even opened three separate Flickr profiles dedicated to that work, which has been a great way to connect with and admire other artists’ creations — even though photography remains my main focus.
In that time I’ve tried to grow my skills (still grateful to my dad for the Canon encyclopedia — one of the best gifts I’ve ever received), joined inspiring groups, and connected with amazing people like those at Click the Contest! and SONIAGALLERY (you know who you are!). I was also honored to be among the winners of the Flickr 20th Anniversary Contest.
Every day, the photos I discover here inspire me — not only as a photographer but also as a person. I’m deeply grateful to be part of this community.
Thank you all for sharing this journey with me.

This was a fun, creative project. I attempted to create a top-view of Saturn, with stars in the background, using only matches, a crystal ball and its base, and some globs of sticky tack. I stuck a few matches on either side of the crystal ball, lit the matches, and spun the ball on its base. With a long exposure, I captured a ring effect as the matches spun and gradually burned closer to the ball. Afterwards, I took various individual photos of burning matches, and combined them together to give the impression of stars. The end result? Saturn and stars!
The title was taken from an excerpt of a poem by Anna Letitia Barbauld (1743-1825), titled "A Summer Evening's Meditation:"
"...One by one, the living eyes of heaven awake, quick kindling o'er the face of ether. One boundless blaze; ten thousand trembling fires, and dancing lustres, where the unsteady eye, restless and dazzled, wanders unconfined, o'er all this field of glories...."

Don't be Panic about the Pandemic. Self Isolation and Social Distancing make the Planet re-breath. Have a wonderful time at your home.
This Composition meets the Rule of Thirds and interesting thing is, the colors are complementary to the opposite.
…a single step. The average moderately active person walks about 1250 miles a year. Think about it. One thousand miles seems impossible. But if you take it just one step at a time, you get there without even realizing it. Whatever challenges you’re facing this year, just take it one step at a time and you’ll get there!
For my 116 Pictures in 2016 Group, the exact quote this illustrates is, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." - Lao Tzu

This is my entry for Macro Mondays this week.
Theme: (Watch)
I found one of my old watches languishing in a forgotten draw in a cupboard.
So I dusted it off and tried to be creative using some colourful leaves as a background.
I photographed this macro outside in the nice weather using a mirror.
[Time]
That was then, this is now
time flies past like I don't know how ....
If you blink, then it's gone
flying past like a scalded swan ....
So if this is now, and that was then,
well, I'm getting old like a fountain pen ....
Original fun

"Happy Macro Mondays" to everyone! cheers 🍻

I have had this 80mm crystal ball for a couple years and never used it, so I experimented with it yesterday. I set it in front of my computer screen with an image of water & oil that I took awhile back. There is a little moire effect (veritcal lines) in the ball, that I just learned about. It doesn't bother me so much as it is just in the center of the ball, and not on the entire image. It was a fun experiment and will most likely do this again.
