I captured this image while visiting and walking around Rotterdam, Netherlands. Weena Tower is a 33-story building located in Rotterdam's central business district. It is located at the corner of Lijnbaan and the ‘Koopgoot. It has been transformed into a residential building featuring 103 rental apartments. I love all the brilliant and creative architecture in Rotterdam…
Montreal is filled with fabulous, creative architecture. These otherwise mundane apartment buildings on Blvd. Pie IX near Henri-Bourassa, surprise passersby with their unusual entrances. The doors are located a few steps down from the sidewalk level. Sheltering the entrance is a large, cantilevered... uh, ... "structure".
I'm not sure if you'd call it an awning, a marquee, or just what. Shooting up at a shocking angle and adorned with "Hi-Hat" style light fixtures, it appears as though it's been somehow pried open more than it ought to be. You could also imagine it as a huge door that might slam shut at any moment!
It's one of those things that you either love it, hate it, or maybe both. In any case, it's undoubtedly Prax, and a delightful example of it too!

Offically, the Victorian Age extended from 1837 when Victoria became Queen of England to her death in 1901. We use this "catch all phrase" to describe the many different styles which evolved during this time: including Eastlake, Bracket and Queen Ann styles. The Eastlake style is noted for its embellishment of brackets, piercework and spindle bands. These gingerbread houses are an example of this happy, exuberant and creative architecture.
Shotgun Double (1840-1940) This house type is a 2 family house composed of 2 shotgun singles joined under one roof and separated by a center wall. 2113-15 & 2114-16 Chartres have a front gallery (porch) and a Victorian facade.

Vancouver, BC. Burrard St., which runs directly through Vancouver's financial district, boasts a plethora of tall buildings whose creative architecture invariably integrates a fountain where water runs year round. This fountain, which extends almost a full city block, forms the backdrop of a small park, where the sound of the rushing water is meant to mask the noise of nearby traffic.
Photos from an afternoon wandering around Seattle Center, home of the Space Needle, Experience Music Project, Key Arena, and a few other civic and touristy places.
On our way out of Tana we stopped by this fascinating establishment. The owners run a business producing a variety of art & craft items while also providing a school for the employee's children. It is a good arrangement for all concerned. Their sales room is in the building peeking in on the right edge.
We came here primarily to visit the school and donate some supplies for the children.

At the end the participants and I decided to make a bit of a creative architectural group shot. The abandoned building was just too beautiful not to use. This is a test shot to check the light.
