Praying Mantis on my Indian blanket flower. They love this particular clump of flowers and I have seen several hanging around.

Had to get out today in between thunderstorms so I revisited familiar haunts. This old car was crying for some attention so here she is. My friend Dave will tell what she is because although I made a mental note to remember, it's left me and all I know is she's rusting away in an old field.

I've often wondered if life wouldn't be easier if I had married a fellow photographer. My husband is not always crazy about driving around backroads so I might find something interesting to shoot so I find myself going alone a lot. I guess things are as they should be because we all know what an expensive and all consuming hobby it can be. I know when I've spent too much time working on pictures when the cupboards are bare and Barney barks at me when I come home.

Thanks as always for spending your time following my exploits! Please view large and on black!

A beautiful night with a dance of lightning and one funnel!

Suggesting a hatch here, this side's pretty plain compared to the other one.

Thanks everyone for the advice and comments on this one, much appreciated.

From yesterday chasing the insects! Anyone know what species of Beetle this might be?

Illinois Central SD40-3 6261 leads a heavy stone train up Proctor Hill bound for the United Taconite processing plant at Fairlane, Minnesota.

We spent our annual snowshoe weekend at my buddy Roger's cabin in northeastern Wisconsin this past weekend. I found this old abandoned house in the Marinette county countryside outside of the village of Crivitz thanks to my good friend diapaulic.

A cool way to view mine or anyone else's photostream is on fluidr.

Spider-Man from Marvel Select. Pretty awesome figure.

I was just shooting for cute with this little dude. The parts are under so much pressure that he's basically a walking grenade.

The past week I saw two tarantulas sharing the path I was walking. It's mating season so he's on the prowl......

Another lightning capture from storms that rolled through the Central Texas area in late May, 2025. Taken from Liberty Hill. Single exposure.

I uploaded this one a few days ago but kind of rushed the processing and didn't have it how I wanted it. I've now decided this is going to be the first in a new series on images taken at wistmans which are themed as night shots. I have a few more ideas for the series so looking forward to getting back and shooting in the darkness.

I'd been out all night chasing a decent lightning strike and snagged this one from the driveway just after arriving home...

Toy Project Day 3024

This was definitely an anvil crawler. This discharge had no intention of striking the ground.

The Cape Flyer passes MP 37 on the Cape Main Line at Cherry St. in Middleboro. Leading the train is the MBTA 1129, a GP40MC that was recently repainted into the T's old maroon and silver paint scheme. The fresh rebuilt locomotive experienced a mechanical failure in Middleboro and was running 33 minutes late at the time of the photo.

If there weren't garbage trucks here or the signs for the landfill, you wouldn't know. There's less trash laying around here than most places and no odd smells.

Union Pacific 7966 and 6592 team up on the North Platte West, Nebraksa to Mira Loma, California "Autofest" the train is seventy-one hundred feet of solid Autoracks but since it left Bailey Yard they slapped an M prefix on it. The train is inching to halt in the siding at Garnet, where it will meet "The Denver" the one and only eastbound Z-train left on the LA&SL between Yermo, California and Salt Lake City, Utah.
