finalmente, após a mudança! abrir caixas e colocar tudo no lugar!

I can work again! After moving all of the non-craft books into my bedroom I now have a place for everything and everything in it's place.

A break from my 'diary' now to show you the latest on the landing craft that will be part of the D-Day Museum here. Tim was off yesterday and we popped down to check Mum's house, riding partly along the seafront on the way home. Tim couldn't ride his bike this way, but waited while I came to have a look and take some photos.

Some info from the D-Day Museum website:

LCT 7074 is a 59-metre long ‘Landing Craft, Tank’ (LCT) that carried 10 tanks to Normandy for D-Day. The tanks belonged to 7th Armoured Division and went ashore in France on 7 June 1944.

LCT 7074 is owned by the National Museum of the Royal Navy, which has received funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to display the ship next to The D-Day Story. The ship has been brought to Southsea seafront by sea from HM Naval Base Portsmouth and will open to the public in 2020. The Sherman and Churchill tanks, which used to be on show in front of the museum, will be displayed on board the LCT.

The lower shelves hold craft supplies. I found this CD shelving unit on the street. Love how well made it is and its thin profile for storing and displaying stuff.

My friend says both the spinning and the knitting are perfect to do in 'cooler' temperatures.

She starts spinning in Autumn, and often by the open fire.

Short draw spinning is used to create worsted yarns.

It is spun from combed roving, sliver or wool top.

The spinner keeps his/her hands very close to each other.

The fibres are held, fanned out, in one hand, and the other hand pulls a small number from the mass.

The twist is kept between the second hand and the wheel.

There is never any twist between the two hands.

Spinning the wool, hands again, my fascination ... since they are so expressive, almost as much as a face (?), a means of body language and non-verbal communication, we ‘say’ so much with our hands.

We touch, feel, handle, build and destroy, hurt and caress, kill and heal, make music (noise) and command or pray for silence, our hands can be rough or smooth.

The end product is very pleasing, I love the natural colours.

Sometimes the lady dyes the wool, also with natural dyes.

Characteristics of spun yarn vary according to the material used, fibre length and alignment, quantity of fibre used, and degree of twist.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your comments... M, (*_*)

Aqui ele aberto com as coisas arrumadinhas. Fica uma mesa muito boa para se trabalhar e não ocupa muito espaço, já que o único espaço que tinha para colocar era o quartinho de emprega, que não usamos.

The metal craft industry in Bangladesh, particularly those producing brass and bell-metal items, is now a "sunset industry" because of the declining demand for brassware over the years caused by the massive influx of products made of steel, crystal and ceramics.

The brassware of Bangladesh reveals the high workmanship of the artisans who have handed down their craft from one generation to the other. There are household articles and utensils made out of brass and bell-metal with different shapes and sizes. The principal items of brass are water pots, dishes, bowls, cymbals and other figurines.

Artisans also make figurines of elephants and horses from brass with intricate designs.

The best metal craftsmen in the country are the members of the kansari (brazier) caste who are known for their skills in producing artworks in brass and silver

Ch Ch Changes!!!

I hated the brown, It made that green look even more garish to me sooo I repainted the table and shelves white and I decided to just make the shelving evenly spaced and have them completey wrap around the corner rather than that break in the middle. It looks a lot more cohesive to me now but now my back hurts! LOL
