Well, I had planned to spend this sunny day sitting in the garden relaxing, but...

I started the day doing my lateral flow home Covid test. It's pretty uncomfortable, but it was obviously good to get a negative result, and they may get easier to do with practice. One can hope :-)

I decided not to waste the warm sunshine, and got on with staining/preserving the wooden side gate to the garden. Then I moved on to the garden bench, and finished off with the wooden decorative urn which is a garden ornament. Basically, if anything was made of wood and not living, it was stained! :-)

In between times, I had lunch outside, did three loads of washing, planted some gladioli corms & sweet pea seedlings (courtesy of Bethan) and later Mike & I went for a walk to Hatherop and Coln. At Coln Stores, Mike made pleading eyes until I got him an ice cream, so I had to have one too - our first ones of the year.

To day I went looking for a ground hog (isn't that sausage?), I didn't find one, saw my shadow and came home to look at the calendar and sure enough there will be 6 more weeks of Winter!

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Rachael Tuczynski, 60th Medical Group, 60th Air Mobility Wing, takes the temperature of a patient, July 28, 2020 at Adventist Health Lodi Memorial. California Gov. Gavin Newsom recently declared the state’s central valley as a COVID-19 focal point, noting a significant spike in coronavirus-related cases. Adventist Health Lodi Memorial and Stockton’s Dameron Hospital are two San Joaquin County facilities embedding medical teams from Task Force 46, Joint Force Land Component Command, U.S. Army North. “The rising community transmission rates we are seeing are concerning. This is alarming and we are taking action,” Newsom said, while announcing, “we are making $52 million available to counties in the Central Valley to support local public health departments with additional resources to stop the spread of the virus and reduce the number of hospitalizations related to COVID-19.” U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing flexible Department of Defense support to states in need as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency in support of the whole-of-nation COVID-19 response.
