I wasn't feeling good Thursday, Friday it got worse, then yesterday I decided that it was time to take a COVID test. I didn't think I would have COVID, but here we are, the guy who wears double masks wherever he goes, rarely goes anywhere, got COVID. My partner being an Uber driver is a massive risk factor.

A US Army soldier with the 173rd Airborne receives a COVID-19 test during Exercise Saber Junction 20. Held in Germany, exercise Saber Junction gathered six NATO Allies and three partners to test the readiness of the US Army’s response force based in Europe. To minimize the chances of COVID-19 infection spreading during the exercise, the US Army regularly screened exercise participants.

To day I went looking for a ground hog (isn't that sausage?), I didn't find one, saw my shadow and came home to look at the calendar and sure enough there will be 6 more weeks of Winter!

Happy Birthday to me, what a nice present... a Covid test, lucky me...

Special thanks to the testers for permission to shoot this series and put up with occasional accidental beeps when my camera hit the car horn as the swab poked my brain 😷

After a disappointing slightly positive Covid test this morning, the day got better. We had a video of our 2-year old granddaughter running around the bandstand in Bicester, which gave me the idea of setting up a circuit to run around at home - just a short one around the outside of the garage, through the garage, round the back garden, and back - to help increase my walking/running while still in isolation. I also decided to join in with the Big Garden Birdwatch, which is organised by the RSPB each year at this time. Although the sun was out, it was pretty chilly - I wanted to sit outside, not just look through the window. It was fun to watch and identify and count the birds, and to take photos when I could. You count the most birds of any given type which are in the garden at any one time, and do it for an hour. They have to land, not just fly over. My final count, between midday and 1pm was: 3 blue tits, 2 great tits, 2 long-tailed tits, 1 robin, 1 blackbird, 1 chaffinch, and 1 jay. There may have been others which I missed or couldn't see very well, but those are the definites.
