Covid-19 - Corona virus

self isolation, flattening the curve, cocooning, test-test-test, pandemic, ventilator, social distancing....lock down

We've come along way in two years, life getting back to normal & in the right direction.

Adjustments of St. Johns due to Covid 19. Camera to stream services for those not ready to return.

I made these out of salt dough and cloves!

Always wanted to play with Nikon so picked up a second hand lens and camera. This is one of my covid babies (the plant) soaking up the warm days outside.

You know things are really getting bad when the flowers are required to wear masks.

A photo from long ago.

When vacation was simple.

When we were allowed outside.

When they didn't count how many and who your friends were.

When we didn't have to go into Quarantine after returning.

When not looking through the houses.

When we didn't know how happy we were.

With the restrictions and covid implications it was nice to social distance and get to the Chasewater Raiwlay for the Santa's today, this is the last steam for me this year. Was nice to catch up with Mark and a red line under WalesWood in the book.

December 2020, 9 months after the country's first lockdown and businesses and individuals are still quick on their heels making sure the infection rate is as low as possible. Transport operators are still making sure every other seat is blocked off, as shown in the photo, and vehicles are cleaned regularly throughout the day, as seen in the background.

Llanelli in limbo....It's been a year since I last walked through the Saint Elli Centre shopping mall....So sad to see -what was- a thriving shopping centre reduced to an empty shell with closed and shuttered shops and stores, and a few masked people social distancing thanks to barriers...But...there is hope after this terrible national,world-wide and personal tragedy...There is a light,or perhaps a glimmer,at the end of the covid tunnel...Keep Safe All.

In June 2020, after experiencing a devastating spring due to COVID, New York State announced that certain businesses could begin partially opening again. New York City’s response included a program called Open Restaurants, which allowed restaurants to use sidewalks and parking spaces for outdoor, socially distant dining. Owners quickly built temporary enclosures in the streets in front of their businesses to try and recover from months of shutdown. A small stretch of Brooklyn in February 2021 showed the variety and feel of these enclosures. Hopefully, the Open Restaurants initiative will help these businesses to survive and may even lead to a more permanent reorienting of streets to prioritize people over cars.

As a 14 yr old I was going to be the next Rock God. Only one, tiny, little thing got in the way. A lack of natural talent, ability, musicality, practice, skill, drive and ambition. The Chinese guitar made of plywood that was designed for pedal steel did not help, but did give me a left hand grip like a python. With my first few months wages as an adult, I saved and saved and saved. Whilst my mates went to Ibiza on holiday, I spent my money on a trip to Russia! So I saved and saved and saved again and when I had enough money I crossed the county line to a City that had a cathedral of guitars. So many instruments they had to build alcoves to hang them in.I couldn't afford the Hair Metal guitars in lurid green, shocking pink or donkey jacket orange flash. So I came away with a Buddy Holly looking three tone sunburst Japanese Stratocaster copy.

I have had several projects during the covid 19 2020 lockdown. One was to rejuvenate this guitar. The 50's looking colour scheme was faded and tired looking, and not in a good way! I called in a few favours, and used beer bribery and a mate sprayed it in "whatever colour you are spraying a car, mate" I call it baby blue but it could be VW van pacific for all I know. After 30+ years the electrics were seized and thus with other bits and pieces were replaced.I still play in the key of loud but luckily the neighbours are not that close! For the purpose of the photo she sits on the beach worktop I replaced in the kitchen as another lockdown project. I am yet to put a bluetooth radio in that old Bakelite radio-but we are back in lockdown! Stay safe and healthy.

I see they have removed the Covid cycle lanes from Penwortham Hill. Does this mean Covid is over or did they just realise that half the road was blocked for no reason?

Due to COVID lockdown, some dreams about strange places occured...

Lockdown2 self portrait #2

I had to fetch Thea from school just now, as my migraine is somewhat less aggressive than Ed's is. I'm not up to looking after her, so she is running free at home while Ed suffers! I used to be like that with 3 small children at his age, so I know what its like, but its not an option for me today. I had to wear a mask to get her, but that and the added texture don't actually hide the fact that my eyes are like puffy slits with the pain! Thank goodness she is past the stage where she was likely to run off and cause me to have kittens!

I didn't get a badge, this is Mick's.

Only one record to use for this.

By July we should have a car again and a change of scenery. Today was the furthest we have been from home in over a year. Two miles from home and I have missed our special woods and ponds so much. Many people have had things worse, we have fields and ponds close by to walk in. We could also afford food and power. Help get rid of the virus and get our lives back.

Ps.

Mick had his over 3 weeks ago, he has not developed any abnormalities ...except the constant beep from the tracker. Of course this is a positive if we get lost in the woods (not uncommon) we can phone the government to find out where we are LOL.
