CAMP HUMPHREYS — Courageous Channel 12, a noncombatant evacuation operation exercise, was conducted here May 17-19.
Courageous Channel is an annual exercise held in Korea, which allows U.S. military dependents, non-emergency essential civilians and contractors to walk through the evacuation process that would be used in a noncombatant evacuation scenario.
During this exercise, an assessment team that consists of military medical, veterinarian and force protection personnel visit noncombatant evacuation operation sites around the peninsula and noncombatants practiced the evacuation process.
Participation is mandatory for family members of Soldiers and Department of Defense civilians and non-emergency essential workers.
“This exercise allowed dependents of all military members an opportunity to experience the emergency control center,” said Sgt. Hezekiah L. Jenkins, an Area III noncombatant evacuation operation coordinator.
The exercise included check-in tables divided by unit, an eligibility screening and a review of participant data in the NEO tracking system.
During the exercise, participants were given a bracelet, which would be used to track them at different stations worldwide in the event of evacuation.
The process also included a nuclear, biological, and chemical station, where people could practice donning protective masks and simulate the actions that would be taken in the event they needed to be decontaminated. Other specialists offered medical, legal and finance information.

The comic story is an expression of characters heroic personal revolt against austerity and urban imprisonment, it echoes the story of Alexander the Great who is also seen as a Don Quixote. Escaping capitalist mono rationalism Alexander discovers nature is still there alive and full of wonder!
Confronting Darius the local Scrapyard King of Ireland he abducts his daughter a young traveller woman to be his bride Roxanne! Together on the road they joust with the pursuing police and farmers tractors (Quixote's windmills) and Alexander even promises to lead all the animals in a grand revolt!
Until suddenly time and space fall away and the Poet of our Cosmos, interested, arrives to talk with them….
Alexander's search for something lost now ends up on life's cliff and limit where his escape can go no further. But as our hero's mask falls away and now completely naked he discovers he is loved by Roxanne, at last they make love and riding together upon Alexander's loyal bicycle stead Buce Phalus, returning them back to the city to bring their discoveries of love, empathy and a revolution in human values home!

This is Bagnall 0-6-0ST No 2680 built in 1942 for the Birchenwood Gas and Coke co. where it was named 'Birchenwood No 4'. The loco was used on their extensive system until closure in 1973. Following purchase for preservation it was moved to Market Overton and then the North Norfolk Railway before ending up at the Ribble Steam Railway in 2009 where it was restored to full working order - its first weekend of service being the Steam Gala held on 15th/16th February this year.

HMS Courageous started life as a Light Cruiser in 1916
Converted to a Carrier Courageous served with the Home Fleet in the Channel Force at the start of the Second World War. On 17 September 1939, under the command of Captain W. T. Mackaig-Jones, she was on an anti-submarine patrol off the coast of Ireland. Two of her four escorting destroyers had been sent to help a merchant ship under attack. During this time, Courageous was stalked for over two hours by U-29, commanded by Kapitänleutnant Otto Schuhart. Then Courageous turned into the wind to launch her aircraft. This manoeuvre put the ship right across the bow of U-29, which then fired three torpedoes. Two of the torpedoes struck the ship on her port side, and she capsized and sank in 15 minutes with the loss of 518 of her crew, including her captain. She was the first British warship to be lost in the war; the civilian passenger liner SS Athenia had been sunk two weeks earlier..

There has been a call out to protest Bill C-51 on March 14, 2015 in cities across the country.
The proposed legislation Bill C-51 would clearly allow for the violation of Charter Rights, facilitate spying on innocent Canadians, and create a secret police force with little oversight or accountability.
This bill disproportionately targets indigenous communities, environmental activists, dissidents, and Muslims, many of whom are already subjected to questionable and overreaching powers by security officials. This bill will make it easier and ostensibly lawful for government to continue infringing upon the rights of peaceful people.
C-51 is reckless, irresponsible and ineffective.
We are calling on the government to withdraw the legislation.
We are calling on everyone to do what they can to bring attention to this governments attempt to compromise privacy for false security, while promoting a culture of fear and racism.
Please send a message to your MP, share this event, and join us on March 14!

News releases on impact of Bill C-51 by the BCCLA:
The leaders of Ireland’s main Churches have released a report on the dialogue that they engaged in following their initial meetings with Northern Ireland’s five party leaders, entitled A time for courageous and compassionate leadership: Report on the Church Leaders’ Civil Society Dialogue Initiative.
The senior churchmen presented the report and its main findings to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, the Rt Hon Karen Bradley MP, An Tánaiste Simon Coveney TD, and the party leaders attending the inter–party talks on Tuesday 14 May.
The initiative began in September 2018 when the Church Leaders invited the leaders of Northern Ireland’s main political parties to discuss the consequences of the political impasse. This was then followed by separate meetings in October between the Church Leaders, Secretary of State and Tánaiste.
Those involved in each of the autumn meetings agreed that it would be helpful if the Church Leaders’ dialogue between them could be opened up to the party’s locally–based MLAs along with some from wider Northern Ireland society.
Between December 2018 and February 2019, approximately 120 people attended facilitated discussions in Newry, Belfast, Ballymena and Derry–Londonderry. This included locally–based representatives from health and social care, policing, business, farming and agriculture, youth work, family support, women’s groups, those engaged in anti–poverty work and community development. Like many other similar gatherings, these meetings focused on the consequences of the political impasse and ways in which political leaders and civil society could work together for the common good. Two Church Leaders attended each regional meeting along with local church representatives and locally–based MLAs.
Releasing the report, the Rev Trevor Gribben, Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church and Secretary to the Church Leaders’ Group (Ireland), said: “The Church Leaders welcomed the opportunity last week to meet with the Secretary of State, An Tánaiste and the party leaders during the inter–party talks last week. The Church Leaders wanted to encourage those involved in this fresh initiative, which they hope will lead to substantive progress over the next number of weeks. During the meeting they also shared with them the report’s key findings.
“In the report the Church Leaders say, ‘There is great value in people from different backgrounds, and different sectors, coming together to support each other recognising our collective responsibility for the common good. We have heard a strong message coming from our local communities that this is the kind of leadership people want, and need, to see at the present time.’”
“Acknowledging that the timing for the talks was not perfect, the Church Leaders said that they were aware of a growing sense of despair in communities at the lack of political movement on restoring devolution. Together, they hoped that this fresh initiative would lead to substantive progress and the establishment of a sustainable power–sharing executive that is built on balanced accommodation and focused on the common good. They added that this would require leadership that is courageous and compassionate.
“Having discussed the report with the inter–party talks participants and referenced the initiative in their various public statements following their meeting, the Church Leaders felt that it would be helpful if the report was shared more widely.”
The Church Leaders involved in the initiative, and who met with participants in the inter–party talks were:
- The Most Rev Dr Richard Clarke, Church of Ireland Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland;
- The Most Rev Eamon Martin, Catholic Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland;
- The Right Rev Dr Charles McMullen, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland;
- The Rev William Davison, President of the Methodist Church in Ireland;
- The Rev Brian Anderson, President of the Irish Council of Churches; and
- The Rev Trevor Gribben, Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church and Joint Secretary to the Church Leaders’ Group (Ireland).
