Spotted hyenas are predatory mammals and hunt for survival. They prey on antelopes, wildebeest, hippos, lizards, fish, foxes, and insects. They also feed on eggs. The size of prey depends on how many hyenas are in a clan. The more members there are, the more confident they are about hunting down larger prey and a large clan can even take down a Cape Buffalo. Despite the bad rap they get as scavengers they are witty and courageous animals. I had them most nights around my tent in the Serengeti, the sides of the tent would even bulge inwards when one lay against it on the outside; easily identified by the sounds they made. Interestingly they are more related to felines than canines.

Lately I found my mind wandering as we wind ourselves into the new year of 2023. I decided to do a more thoughtful pose to work with some PS tools I've neglected for far too long to get the hang of them. Maybe, hah. Working in extreme closeup made me appreciate the work put into the eyebrows and eyes by Landgraff (his Unholy eyes are really cool), the brows alone are nicely detailed down to the tiniest hair and added scar. I'm wearing Cubic Cherry's spectacles to add to the haughty look.

You are taking one courageous step after another down the healing road. While these are healthy steps, it’s intensely challenging to face the unknown and experiences so terrorizing that your mind wisely blocked them out for the sake of your survival. This is too much to handle alone and it’s important to remember that God’s presence surrounds you in each moment and you have the gift of your small though incredibly mighty group of supporters. Things are unclear, difficult, scary, require a tremendous amount of perseverance, and when you reflect on the past the healing process is evident, encouraging and certainly worth the effort it requires.

Recently I was struggling a lot with my own intense mental health struggles in addition to the stress and fear of my husband’s health struggles and recent hospitalization. Somehow I found the strength to spend some time outside capturing the beauty I saw in the fog and frost that was visible through the windows that morning—it seemed to tell an important, uplifting story that helped me continue pressing on.
March 04, 2020: Strmec is located on a small ridge, with little vegetation and very steep, almost sheer above the upper Koritnica valley/Loška Koritnica.
This factor, together with the rocky and very snowy environment of the opposite Loška stena (Briceljk, 2343m a.s.l.), a mountain chain of great visual impact that departs from the Jalovec massif (2643m a.s.l.), seems to be much higher in altitude than altimeter effective 986m a.s.l. !

Of the hundreds of birds gathered in the overflow area of The Salt Plains Wildlife Preserve, only this white duck did not scurry off when I approached. All alone he swam almost right up to my toe. Probably not really brave but with experience of free food from humans.

Still carrying it's Large Logo Blue livery 50032 'Courageous' comes into the sunlight at Horse Cove and heads south west on September 26th 1986.
Wikipedia: Thao Suranari (1771–1852) is the royally bestowed title of Lady Mo, also known as Ya Mo (ย่าโม, "Grandma Mo"), who was the wife of the deputy governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, the stronghold of Siamese control over its Laotian vassals.
In 1826, King Anouvong of Vientiane invaded Siam, seeking complete independence. Anouvong's forces seized the city of Nakhon Ratchasima by a ruse when the governor was away. The invaders evacuated the inhabitants, intending to resettle them in Laos. Lady Mo is credited with saving her people by harassing the enemy. Varying stories describe her either getting the invading soldiers drunk, or leading a rebellion of the prisoners on the way back to Vientiane. The generally accepted version is that, when the Lao invaders ordered the women to cook for them, Lady Mo requested knives so that food might be prepared. That night, when the invaders were asleep, she gave the knives to the imprisoned men. They surprised the Lao troops, who fled, and the prisoners escaped. Thai King Rama III soon sent an army in pursuit, led by General Sing Singhaseni (สิงห์ สิงหเสนี). He defeated Anuvoung's forces in three days of fighting and completely destroyed Anuvoung's capital city of Vientiane.
King Rama III awarded her the title Thao Suranari, (or Lady Suranari – "the brave lady") in recognition of her courageous acts.

Melin Llynon, or Llynon Mill, is a gristmill located on the outskirts of the village of Llanddeusant on the island of Anglesey. It is the only surviving working windmill in Wales.
The mill was built for £529, 11s in 1775–1776, on land owned by the surgeon Herbert Jones. It is classified as a tower mill. The machinery is within a stone tower and the moving top, or cap cwch, turns so that the sails hwyliau catch the wind from any direction. The tower was 9.3 metres tall and with four floors. It was used to drive machines for grinding corn, oats and barley. The first miller, Thomas Jones (1756–1846), worked it until his death. The position of miller was passed down through the generations, eventually going to a cousin William Pritchard. By 1929 the mill was registered as disused and in use again. By 1954 structural damage meant the mill was permanently out of order.
It is now the only working windmill in Anglesey and Wales. Also within the site is a reconstruction of an Iron Age roundhouse hut building.
Damage
A storm in 1918 damaged the cap stopping it from turning to face the wind. It still operated intermittently for the next six years when the wind was from the southwest. Eventually the mill closed and became increasingly dilapidated.
The windmill was previously reconstructed by the Isle of Anglesey County Council after they purchased the mill in 1978. It was restored and reopened on 11 May 1984, and since 1986 the windmill produces stoneground flour

Yueh Hai Ching Temple is a Chinese temple in Singapore.
The current structure of this shrine dates back to 1850 and then was substantially renovated in 1895. Since then, it has undergone several restorations.
The temple is an expression of a Taoist temple of Chinese architecture.
The roofs of the gates have the most unusual ornaments. Human figurines rea displayed everywhere, depicting scenes from Chinese operas that illustrate the courageous and meritorious deeds of the gods and ancient heroes of Chinese legend.
