Obviously defending their nest nearby, two Jay's repeatedly launched strike missions at this adult. Eventually she got tired of their antics and flew off.

Given its unpredictable temper, the African buffalo is particularly difficult to tame and has never been domesticated like its relative, the Asian water buffalo. Additionally, these animals are considered to be extremely dangerous. They fiercely protect themselves and each other against predators and are known to move in to support another buffalo that is under attack by a lion or other predator. They are very courageous animals.
This is dedicated to my amazingly strong, courageous and talented friend, Camille Gili, whom I admire enormously. We started a very special friendship this year which I cherish. Lately I found my mind wandering as we wind ourselves into the new year of 2023. I decided to do a more thoughtful pose to work with some PS tools I've neglected for far too long to get the hang of them. Maybe, hah. Working in extreme closeup made me appreciate the work put into the eyebrows and eyes by Landgraff (his Unholy eyes are really cool), the brows alone are nicely detailed down to the tiniest hair and added scar. I'm wearing Cubic Cherry's spectacles to add to the haughty look.

You are taking one courageous step after another down the healing road. While these are healthy steps, it’s intensely challenging to face the unknown and experiences so terrorizing that your mind wisely blocked them out for the sake of your survival. This is too much to handle alone and it’s important to remember that God’s presence surrounds you in each moment and you have the gift of your small though incredibly mighty group of supporters. Things are unclear, difficult, scary, require a tremendous amount of perseverance, and when you reflect on the past the healing process is evident, encouraging and certainly worth the effort it requires.

Recently I was struggling a lot with my own intense mental health struggles in addition to the stress and fear of my husband’s health struggles and recent hospitalization. Somehow I found the strength to spend some time outside capturing the beauty I saw in the fog and frost that was visible through the windows that morning—it seemed to tell an important, uplifting story that helped me continue pressing on.
March 04, 2020: Strmec is located on a small ridge, with little vegetation and very steep, almost sheer above the upper Koritnica valley/Loška Koritnica.
This factor, together with the rocky and very snowy environment of the opposite Loška stena (Briceljk, 2343m a.s.l.), a mountain chain of great visual impact that departs from the Jalovec massif (2643m a.s.l.), seems to be much higher in altitude than altimeter effective 986m a.s.l. !

Of the hundreds of birds gathered in the overflow area of The Salt Plains Wildlife Preserve, only this white duck did not scurry off when I approached. All alone he swam almost right up to my toe. Probably not really brave but with experience of free food from humans.
Still carrying it's Large Logo Blue livery 50032 'Courageous' comes into the sunlight at Horse Cove and heads south west on September 26th 1986.
There is a commonly seen animal in Yosemite that is loaded with personality and has an unmatched sense of courage. This would be the California ground squirrel. This little rodent has a magnetic personality and a highly unusual way of defending itself. When confronted by predators, California ground squirrels furiously shake their tails and actually heat their tails up by as much as 12 degrees Fahrenheit. To a heat sensing organism like a snake, this sudden flash of heat startles them and sends them scurrying off in the opposite direction. This is the first example of infrared communication ever observed in the animal world! Weirder yet, mother squirrels have been observed chewing up shed rattlesnake skins and then meticulously grooming their pups. This rattlesnake "perfume" is thought to camouflage the pup's scent. Melin Llynon, or Llynon Mill, is a gristmill located on the outskirts of the village of Llanddeusant on the island of Anglesey. It is the only surviving working windmill in Wales.
The mill was built for £529, 11s in 1775–1776, on land owned by the surgeon Herbert Jones. It is classified as a tower mill. The machinery is within a stone tower and the moving top, or cap cwch, turns so that the sails hwyliau catch the wind from any direction. The tower was 9.3 metres tall and with four floors. It was used to drive machines for grinding corn, oats and barley. The first miller, Thomas Jones (1756–1846), worked it until his death. The position of miller was passed down through the generations, eventually going to a cousin William Pritchard. By 1929 the mill was registered as disused and in use again. By 1954 structural damage meant the mill was permanently out of order.
It is now the only working windmill in Anglesey and Wales. Also within the site is a reconstruction of an Iron Age roundhouse hut building.
Damage
A storm in 1918 damaged the cap stopping it from turning to face the wind. It still operated intermittently for the next six years when the wind was from the southwest. Eventually the mill closed and became increasingly dilapidated.
The windmill was previously reconstructed by the Isle of Anglesey County Council after they purchased the mill in 1978. It was restored and reopened on 11 May 1984, and since 1986 the windmill produces stoneground flour

This water tower that used to supply a village in the valley with water, has been dysfunctional for decades. There were many failed attempts at selling this concrete structure. Now there is a buyer. When I saw these daffodils sitting on a windowsill in the kitchen, they seemed to tell a story I could relate to—of being trapped behind a glass wall (that seems invisible to others) due to the harm and trauma I’ve endured which prevents me from fully living and being able to function well. It’s a sad, devastating reality and I work to do what I can to survive, cope, continue growing and healing.
