The difference in coloration of the wall indicates where the church was broken down a couple of hundred years ago by a fire. The church was rebuilt and is now a cultural heritage piece in Friesland.

On lui doit la mise en place de pépinières dans lesquelles furent cultivés des milliers de greffons de plants français de vigne sur des boutures américai-nes pour faire face à la crise du phylloxéra. Nommé commissaire de la République à la Libération, il créa en 1937 le quotidien de gauche "La Bourgogne Républicaine".
