I just found this image... on the wall at the new Academy of Sciences Steinhart Aquarium! (whoa!) It's in the back a ways, next to a glass case with white shark jaws, next to another case with blue whale baleen. (It's the older edit, the one used at WikiCommons - which is where I believe they got it.) Pretty dern neato, if I do say so myself.....

"taipeitravel.net" is the official website developed by Department of Information and Tourism, Taipei City Government.
2009/6/18, one week after i wrote a complained email to Taipei City Mayor. The Dept. of Information and Tourism has admitted that its contractor; E-Century Information and Technology, has infringed my copyright by using my Taipei 101 fireworks NY2008 to merge with other photo to post on the front page of "taipeitravel.net" and The Department of Information and Tourism has aksed the contractor to be responsible for the consequences.
The supervisor (a.k.a. Creative Director) Cecilia Chang from E-Century Information and Technology, was trying to appeal to understanding that their designer was young and inexperienced not knowing what he did was worng and that Taipei Travel Net was a non-profit (please do not forget E-Century company makes profits) website...
2010/3/3, The verdict from Taipei District Prosecutors Office judged: in this criminal (copyright) law case, it (E-CENTURY INFORMATION & TECHNOLOGY CO.; the profitable contractor of Taipei City Government) is legal (has legitimate reasons *) to use my work for public purpose despite my declaration of "All rights reserved" and without my permission...
*according to government procurator's report, the major legitimate reasons incl:
fireworks are only small part on this front page, my works (fireworks shot) are not "originality" and taipeitravel.net is a non-profit website.
2010/4/16, receive a notice from Taiwan High Prosecutors Office that they have asked Taipei District Prosecutors Office continue investigation about this copyright law case.

臺北市政府觀光傳播局觀光發展科黃科長下午招開協商會議，會議中承包商先得利資訊科技股份有限公司(E-Century)代表人兼創意總監張瓊月表示:
此「臺北旅遊網」係完全由該公司兩位年輕菜鳥設計師負責，伊事先並不知情，「臺北旅遊網」非商業網站，而他們一張網頁照片取得價格僅需新台幣數百元...等理由願意賠償本人。由於明顯規避侵權(著作權)責任，不提「臺北旅遊網」承包合約金額有數百萬元之多，不理本人所提以往授權之參考價格..等原因此未達成和解。

臺北市政府觀光傳播局局長 羊曉東回復我(發文字號北市觀發字09830610600號)：
"「臺北旅遊網」首頁係本局97年經委託先得利資訊股份有限公司製做，該公司涉嫌未經您的同意即使用照片的行為，本局認為已損及 您及本局權益，並已依契約規定，另案函請該公司盡速妥為處理..."

委請吳義雄律師向台北地方法院檢察署(以下簡稱地檢署)提告，就先得利資訊股份有限公司及創意總監張張瓊月與不詳姓名之其他設計師等人，有違反著作權法罪嫌提出刑事告訴。

地檢署簽分秋股98年度他字第11285號著作權法案件，開偵查庭。
2010/1/26
地檢署改簽分秋股99年度偵字第2106號著作權法案件，開偵查庭。
2010/2/10
地檢署 秋股99年度偵字第2106號著作權法案件，續開偵查庭。
檢察官楊冀華詢問證人"...質諸證人陳俞光到庭結稱: 伊為被告先得利公司之設計師，為製作臺北旅遊網歡迎頁經由雅虎奇摩網站搜尋引擎，在flickr網站發現若干煙火照片，伊僅取用煙火部份，乃將煙火部份一一拆下，翻轉後重製，過程為伊獨立完成，亦未報告被告張瓊月..."
註1: 陳姓設計師自稱是進入先得利公司未滿一年之菜鳥設計師，亦應是2009/6/12在觀光傳播局張瓊月向本人承認應對此事負責的兩位年輕設計師之ㄧ。
註2: 檢察官楊冀華在偵訊時表示，雙方律師可在7工作日內提出補充告訴理由狀說明。由於農曆新年假期，所以本人的委託律師於二月二十三日另提三頁補充說明。

檢察官楊冀華偵訊次日立即完成不起訴書，主要理由為:
一、證人陳姓設計師所取用之煙火部份質與量，佔臺北旅遊網歡迎頁之比例甚微。
二、次就利用結果對於著作之潛在市場與現在價值之影響言，告訴人前述「101煙火照片」其中煙火部份，單純忠實呈現煙火之型態，並無較為繁重之設計或技巧，告訴人亦自承修改之技術僅為影像重疊。而網路資訊發達，有關煙火照片俯拾即是，難謂有何特殊之無可取代性，此亦足以證明被告張瓊月或被告先得利公司其餘人員並無可能發現有何可使用上之爭議問題。
三、末就利用之目的及性質言，被告先得利公司並非直接販售上開之煙火照片圖利其為臺北市政府施作上揭網頁之最終目的仍係為推展城市觀光...

收到上述不起訴書，地檢署檢察官楊冀華做出的結論是：被告先得利公司係合理使用告訴人(本人)前述之「101煙火照片」...
2010/4/16
收到臺灣高等法院檢察署通知，將我申請再議之先得利資訊等 著作權法乙案發回續查。
註4：承包商先得利資訊科技股份有限公司 ，係從事廣告設計、智慧財產權等營業項目，資本額一千八百萬台幣，年營業額超過千萬，擁有台積電、寶鹼、行政院觀光局等知名客戶的一家"專業"公司。
註5：其實大家把作品放在flcikr供人瀏覽，就已經算是"分享"。請再進一歩參考，我所樂見"公益分享"的例子：

The idea of this picture came to me while playing around with the "four color theorem". This theorem states that, given any separation of a plane into contiguous regions, producing a figure called a map, no more than four colors are required to color the regions of the map so that no two adjacent regions have the same color.
Well, in this case only two colours are needed: black and white. And I love the result!

Lau encontró (y yo también lo vi en vivo) un alumno con un trabajo expuesto dentro de los mejores de diseño 3 en la cual una de sus piezas tenía como tapa de manera literal el diseño de la pieza que aparece arriba en el link. Para poder abrir un poco más la cosa me gustaría quizás no centrarme en el ejemplo de ella, más que nada para no quemarle la cabeza, aunque obviamente el tema surge de esto y es el disparador, por lo cual de ser necesario podríamos volver a eso.
Tiro puntas para debatir; agrego las que vayan surgiendo:
1. Como bien decía Ale: Qué es copiar? Cuáles son los límites en los que uno considera algo copia o no? No somos todos por definición una máquina de copiar cosas? Difundimos por facebook videos y enlaces que no nos pertenecen sin citar a los autores. Tomamos imágenes y tipografías también sin permiso, haciendo cosas que nosotros, como modo de autodefensa, decimos "no estamos copiando", pero, eso no quedaría a criterio de la persona copiada?
2. Una cosa que me preocupó mucho y que fue un tema muy mencionado en el flickr de lau, fue el "cómo puede ser que dentro de la FADU nos pasen estas cosas, nos estemos robando entre nosotros", etc. Y yo digo, no sería interesante plantearlo al revés? Por eso hacía hincapié en dejar un poco las emociones de lado, que son inevitables, pero no podemos dejarnos tomar decisiones por eso. Justamente no deberíamos ser solidarios y comprensivos entre nosotros? Si alguien utiliza una pieza que no es de su autoría, no sería interesante como primera medida ver por qué la usó, con qué criterios, por qué consideró que era coherente con su propuesta incluir una pieza ajena? Es cierto que el "plagio" a Lau fue bastante torpe; como ella misma dijo, es una imagen tomada en baja, expandida y pegada literalmente. Pero también es verdad como dijo Fer que formaba parte de un sistema de piezas, que si mal no recuerdo estaba buenisimo, el cual en NINGUN momento se habló al respecto.
No sería, quizás, más enriquecedor, al ver eso, en vez de atacar al responsable, charlar con él y ver por qué lo hizo? Si al flaco lo denuncian, se arma quilombo, le hacen un acta y lo expulsan de la cátedra/ lo que sea, todos quedamos contentos, el flaco era un hijo de puta, no? Y pero... el flaco era un hijo de puta? Yo puedo concebir que somos todos unos hijos de puta por utilizar tipografías de diseñadores notables que no reciben un peso de nuestra parte. Pero, vale la pena eso? Nos denunciamos todos y nos expulsamos todos de la facultad, y la dejamos vacía?
3. (EDITADO) Tomo como referencia otro caso de "plagio":

Esto es más complejo, porque involucra una ganancia monetaria. Y molesta que otro gane plata con nuestra obra.

y ahí hay algo.
Hacemos obras, y tenemos manifestaciones artísticas. Pero opa. La plata importa si alguien saca ganancia con ello. Somos comerciantes o artistas?
Y voy a hacer un enunciado que ni yo puedo defender, que tiene un nivel de absurdo, pero que creo necesario para desarmarlo y poder trabajar a partir de ello. Aclaro, de vuelta, que ESTO NO ES LO QUE PIENSO, sino que es un juego que tiro para desarmar:
El diseñador plagiado en este caso trabaja con tipografías que seguramente no pagó. Utiliza letras de bandas, que probablemente no haya pedido permiso para usarlas. Es decir, tomó parte de una obra y de un diseño para hacer su propio diseño. El resultado es más que interesante. Ahora, eso mismo, es apropiado por una marca de ropa, y la vende. Es decir que ese diseño que lo había hecho por sus motivos personales, ahora le da de comer a otras personas, y hay gente en la calle con su diseño.
Eso es malo? Eso es bueno? Vale la pena decir si es malo o bueno? Y la clave para mí de todo este embrollo: QUE ES LO QUE DEBERIAMOS IR A RECLAMAR? Es decir, molesta que hagan plata, molesta que no nombren al autor, molesta que no nombren al autor que no nombra a los autores de los cuales tomó tipografía/letras?

Espero que esto sea productivo che. Y realmente si se abre algo lindo estaría bueno una juntada física. Pero primero hay que ver cuánto interés hay en esto. Aparte por acá podemos compartir links y demás-

Frankly spoken, I'm a multilover having many brand and model variants of the 135mm theme to love.
This 3.5/135mm Primotar is a very nice objective. It is slow and robust, but lightweight and a good performer in difficult light conditios. Turn slower speed to the shutter and set the camera on a tripod - that's the solution for nice colors even in dark streets
This teleobjective is a representative of the good Meyer tradition: sold with a hood. In spite of the age (50+ years) all is like 'from the shop's shelf'. The black matt coating must be durable!
The black adapter on the back came from somewhere they like rice.
