Breeding:
Lions have very high copulation rates. The female may mate approximately every 15 minutes when she is in heat for three days and nights without sleeping, and sometimes with five different males. This often leads to physical exhaustion of males when only a one or two are involved.
The lion (Panthera leo) is one of the big cats in the genus Panthera and a member of the family Felidae. The commonly used term African lion collectively denotes the several subspecies in Africa.
Lions are the only cats that live in groups, which are called prides. Prides are family units that may include up to three males, a dozen or so females, and their young. All of a pride's lionesses are related, and female cubs typically stay with the group as they age. Young males eventually leave and establish their own prides by taking over a group headed by another male.
Lion Prides and Hunting:
Only male lions boast manes, the impressive fringe of long hair that encircles their heads. Males defend the pride's territory, which may include some 100 square miles (259 square kilometers) of grasslands, scrub, or open woodlands. These intimidating animals mark the area with urine, roar menacingly to warn intruders, and chase off animals that encroach on their turf.
Female lions are the pride's primary hunters. They often work together to prey upon antelopes, zebras, wildebeest, and other large animals of the open grasslands. Many of these animals are faster than lions, so teamwork pays off.
After the hunt, the group effort often degenerates to squabbling over the sharing of the kill, with cubs at the bottom of the pecking order. Young lions do not help to hunt until they are about a year old. Lions will hunt alone if the opportunity presents itself, and they also steal kills from hyenas or wild dogs.
A rare event to wittness in the world of snake breeding.A male Anerythristic (black and white albino) Corn snake pairing with a female Corn snake. I was able to record the moment due to the fact that both snakes have been looked after by myself since they were hatchlings and they are ok with me being around at times like this.
These spiders are some of the most daring when it comes to having sex in public :p
The male on the left is seen using one of his modified palps to inject sperm into the genitalia (called epigyne) of the female.
The injection occurs multiple times and the entire copulation process may last up to minutes and even hours depending on species.

Copy of the original found in Villa of the Papyri, Herculaneum
Naples, Mann
Pan was a satyr - half man and half goat woodland god. In this sculpture, he and the goat exchange a tender gaze, but it is not depicting bestiality. Rather, it explores the nature of Roman myth. The original of this sculpture has been shocking visitors sinc it was first excavated from the villa of the Papyri in Herculaneum, near Pompeii, in 1752. In the Naples Museum, it was kept with other erotic antiquities in the Gabinetto segreto (secret cabinet); that is, a special room with restricted access.
This Female American Avocet in breeding plumage is trying to initiate copulation with a nearby male through a courtship display called a Solicitation Posture and in it she holds her neck extended far out and low. With outstretched wings in the upward position she would often have her head touching the water surface.

Last year a pair of Black Kites (Milvus migrans) tried unsuccessfully to breed in my neighbour's huge tree over my carport. Maybe one or other, or both, were too young? ... but she didn't ever get to be sitting on eggs.
Black Kites form monogamous pairs, so it is likely the current pair are the same birds as last year ... and this year, I am almost absolutely certain, the female has laid egg(s).
This clip is of the fourth copulation witnessed one day, the ninth witnessed overall from 2 May - 12 May 2017. It is slowed down to 0.4 speed and it is silent, but BK copulation is quick and noisy :-)
I am hopeful that this year the pair will fledge at least one chick ... :-)

I was lucky enough to find and observe a mating pair recently ^_^
Stalk-eye Flies, as the name suggest, have very long eye-stalks (yes, those are the eyes on the far left and right :p).
The males (on top) tend to have much longer eye stalks, which acts as a prerequisite to "tackle" the females (bottom).
Males and females tend to rub their forelegs together (also in my Flickr account), which I suspect it to be a mode for stridulation- calling out for a mate.
When a pair of male and female are close together, the male will bend its body low while using its forelegs to continuously tap the surface of the leaf as a sign for mating.
When mating, the male steps on top of the female. The forelegs of the male are put on the "V-shaped" abdominal spines of the female (so that's what its for lol :p)
PS: These flies are a nightmare to photograph up-close due to their very weird body shape!

Crocodile lizard (Shinisaurus crocodilurus) from Guangxi Daguishan Crocodile Lizard National Nature Reserve, China.
Catching his breath in between the acts. He is half of a breeding pair and this is in between the copulations of which there were many. Also have a lot of those shots to from a lot of different angles.
