Scan one of two of my linoleum block print I did recently for an art project. I scanned two for each scan to show the different colors I used and part of the assingment was to make three prints using different colors, whether they be added in with paint, pastels, and/or colored pencil. We had to do a few plain -- or one-colored ones -- as well and I decided to scan the one where the print using the color black came out best. The whole thing started out as an uncarved linoleum block and as a class, we were free to get inspiration from basically whatever we wanted and then ended up drawing the result of that on a piece of a paper and transferring it to our block. Then we had to carve out the areas that wouldn't be filled in with paint. After we finished carving, we made our prints.
The inspiration for my piece comes from three songs: January 1979 by mewithoutYou, We Will Overcome by Thursday, and Cold and Calculated by Project 86. For January 1979, how that inspired the painting was because of the lyric: "I was floating in a peaceful sea, 'rescued' by a sinking ship," which is depicted by the sinking ship near the bottom right corner. The otherI decided to depict from that song would be: "And from such a height you missed creatures too small for sight carry on covert conversation, as the misguided insects crown me their grasshopper king with a dance of celebration, "which I guess is a reference to Numbers 13:33, which is a verse about the Nephilim and the Anakites and it reads: "And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight." The lyric is depicted by what's at the top right area, which is a guy getting crowned by two insects. For We Will Overcome, the lyrics I decided to represent are: "Follow the path of the straight and narrow and "Our roads are paved with broken arrows." I'd say those lyrics stand out to me the song because they encourage me the most about never losing sight of the goals and that's why I chose to depict 'em. The path of the straight and narrow is depicted in the upper left corner. The road paved with broken arrows is depicted in the lower left corner, under the path of the straight and narrow. Lastly, for Cold and Calculated, I chose to depict the lyrics: "You found the wages youve sown in greed," "After all was said and done you lost your pet," and "Your prize..." The decpiction for those lyrics is under the guy getting crowned grasshoper king. "Prize" or "pet" meaning money. It is of a vacuum sucking up money as a hand tries to grab it, which is a comment on greed, which is basicaly what the song's about and I guess, in a way, the Bible talks about greed. The verse 1 Timothy 6:10 comes to mind, which reads: "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." I think that's it.

No, someone else just drove my car 90-odd miles to the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds, and posed that stuff on it for photos, and hired some fat loser to pose for a couple photos, right? ^_^;
I will come back in December. I should see about drawing up a contract if I decide to go for renting a table space for anything worth selling from my horde stashed in the back rooms of my house. ^_^;
See You Next Show, kids!
I used to work for a certain government department that shared a site with a few random types of businesses, one of which was a small rental by a company called Marblo. This company produces 'marblonite', or snazzy looking glowing translucent surfaces you see in chic and overpriced nightclubs. I clearly remember my first encounter with it in the raw, a glowing space age looking plank jutting vertically from a plastic blow moulded footing advertising the company, and the sting when I touched it inappropriately and grabbed the metal tabs that were hooked up to the mains.
This appears to be of a similar nature, however it functions as a reactive surface. It was developed as part of an investigation into 'reactive space,' and is a pressure sensitive surface which starts to glow with the slightest touch. Be it objects being placed on it, or hand prints, et cetera
It's definitely snazzy, I'd say it's replay value would be low though, but it's definitely a fun step into open creativity as far as the thought of it being used in bars or clubs, depending on how long it remains glowing it'd be interesting to see what creativity is unleashed by drunks. :P
