Dogs seem to always find comfortable spots. On hot days, Comet has figured that he can plop his belly down on the cool kitchen floor next to the refrigerator. This way he can catch the north-south breeze through the house and the dump of cold air everytime we open the refrigerator. Have a wonderful weekend.

Monday was a lovely dawn in the New Forest. The cool tones in this shot were a real change from the earlier fiery start. Lee .6 grad
B&LE 867 and GT 4619 remain paired together and working the "A" yard side at Stevens Point WI. Here they sit in the Junk Yard between shifts.
When this male Varied Thrush appeared on a path in front of me, it was difficult 'keeping my cool' to get this image. I hope I don't have to wait another 3 years to see them again!
A good place to cool down on a hot summer day. The land of fairies and elves is not far away from my hometown. :-)

A Common Goldeneye drake at 20 degrees below freezing is enjoying the water that's at least 20 degrees warmer than the surrounding air :-)
Id packed my gear away for the night as the wind was howling and made it really difficult to make photographs. I had gone back to my car and noticed this broken tree branch further along the lake , As you can see i decided to go take a look
;-)
I used a Lee little stopper to make this long exposure and dug my tripod legs into the soft mud beneath the water , Then huddled round my camera to stop the wind moving it !!

A slightly different composition of my Moraine Lake shot, touched up from a RAW shot in HDR. I brought out more tonal range but tried to keep the HDR to a minimum

I know this is a bit odd for me, but let me explain...
I had packed up and was heading toward the car. It had been a rather boring sunset, which was now over, and only the last glimmers of light were left on the horizon. A White-faced Heron suddenly landed on a dead tree right in front of me. I so wished it was still light out, instead of almost night - this would have been a great portrait shot. Instead, I went for the silhouette, and snapped a few before he took off.
I processed in RAW, cooled it a bit, and added 'vegnetting', just for the effect, bumped the contrast and a couple other things, and ended up with this. I thought I'd share it, just for fun.
