I used to always get the red-white-and-blue rocket popsicle

The intimidatingly large cooling towers of Didcot power station.

Early morning, unusual clouds and colors.

Christian coolness god loves you!

Mama and kid cool off in the snow on a hot day. Along the Sperry Glacier Trail, Glacier National Park, Montana, August 2008.

"Cool Surfer" - Actually its a picture of a snow drift that I thought looked like a nice wave to surf on.

I added in a surfer as well as a beach crowd. A fun little project tonight.

AC is finally repaired!! It was beyond wonderful to open the drapes to the light again! I will try to use common sense, however, and close them against the heat of the day ... but, the morning light in my kitchen has always been one of life's gifts to me and just now I'm accepting it with gratitude and appreciation.

Special Note: No repairmen were harmed during this long, hellishly hot session in my attic. Cold tea, water, cool wet towels and fruit popsicles were awarded throughout the repair process. And much praise. And many dollars.

Morning

~ by Mary Oliver

Salt shining behind its glass cylinder.

Milk in a blue bowl. The yellow linoleum.

The cat stretching her black body from the pillow.

The way she makes her curvaceous response to the small, kind gesture.

Then laps the bowl clean.

Then wants to go out into the world

where she leaps lightly and for no apparent reason across the lawn,

then sits, perfectly still, in the grass.

I watch her a little while, thinking:

what more could I do with wild words?

I stand in the cold kitchen, bowing down to her.

I stand in the cold kitchen, everything wonderful around me.

This is the gatehouse to Cooling Castle. It was built in the 1380's by John de Cobham. It is next to Cooling Castle Barn, a wedding venue.

Yo, Carlitos, Sider, Placencia.

Siempre le tuve fé a Carlitos, y no me defraudó.

I don't recall a single care.

Just greenery and humid air.

Then Labor day came and went.

And we shed what was left of our summer skin.

"Summer Skin" - Death Cab for Cutie

Today was the first day I've been able to walk outside and not wonder if I was going to make it home as a solid substance, or if I'd melt in the process. It's October, and temperatures are still well past the 100's. I spent this evening walking around the ritzy outdoor malls of Scottsdale. 80's. Cool breeze. Then eventually some rain. It was perfect.

There is a frame of about 6 weeks when Arizona is perfect. And that time is just around the corner. Life is wonderful, my friends.

Oh, and the elevator had my initials. Copy cat. I made my best friend come with me so I didn't look like a doofus. Taking pictures in public scares me to death; don't think I'll ever get over that.

After the ''Experimental Fish and mink farm'', we went to the nearby Cooling tower's of reactor 5, and 6.

The one the picture was supposed to be finished in 1986, but work was halted after the accident. Then resumed at some point, and finally completely stopped in 1988.

The dark ring that can be seen under the scaffolding, was the top in 1986.

Power walking(!) through the Univ. Parks today - taking advantage of another sunny day. I came across these birds having a lovely time paddling, drinking and cooling off in the clear flowing water.

I think water must have been the "theme" today. When arriving back at my car I discovered the water bottle I'd taken with me had leaked in my bag! Everything was soaked including my camera ... will have to learn how to use the Nikon now :-o.

Equipment used: Nikon D90 with Really Right Stuff (RRF) right angle bracket, Nikkor 18-200mm VR AF-S lens, handheld.

I found these two ladies cooling their heels (literally) to get some respite from the heat! The red shoes added a bit of color.

Location: In front of Karls Kirche, Vienna, Austria.

The Cool Britannia mini in their flagship store. It really is cool!

For those not familiar with the Cool Britannia stores here's an introduction in their own words!

"Cool Britannia are the biggest and by far the coolest souvenir stores in London and the UK.

We have the largest and best range of British souvenirs, novelty goods and fashion so that you can do all of your gift shopping for loved ones in one great location. Our flagship store is on the world famous Piccadilly Circus, steps away from Eros!"

Poor Girl, she really does have a lot of hair!! And its hot and humid here.
