I found these two ladies cooling their heels (literally) to get some respite from the heat! The red shoes added a bit of color.

Just finally updated my blog and realized I hadn't added anything to here in forever, so while I had some nice ready-to-post photo's I might as well put them here too... so glad it's Christmas break. Finally able to get caught up on things. I started school this fall and totally fell off into the sidelines trying to adjust to school life again.
Did my first newborn shoot. This is the baby that was still "baking in the oven" of the maternity shoot I did. She was a total character and super cute. It was fun. Helps that her parents are really cool.
I took a trip to the Washington, D.C. zoo this morning to check it out since I hadn't been in years and I figured it would make a nice testing ground for my 70-200 2.8..
I managed to get quite a few decent shots of the animals, but found out that for some of the bigger enclosures, I'd need a bit more reach.
Animal photos to come shortly, but for now, enjoy this one of a girl cooling off underneath the cool mist.

This photo was taken several years ago when I was on safari in Kenya and Tanzania. In the tropical heat, these Maribo storks spread their wings to cool their bodies a bit in the late afternoon heat.
I've got the power brick balanced on a CD spindle with a PC fan cooling it. It still wasn't enough to prevent this thing from turning into a lemon.
Cool Globes: Hot ideas for a Cooler Planet is the name of this Chicago Public Art Exhibit. It's a collection of 124 different globes designed to create awareness and inspire practical solutions to global warming. It's on display along the Chicago Waterfront all summer long.
This particular globe is called Creative Innovation. I wasn't so moved by what this globe stood for in the exhibit. What I was particularly struck by was the image of the chained-up earth set against the backdrop of a very vibrant American city and alongside a statue of happy children playing together.
