Arrival and inspection of the L3 lens of the LSST Camera at a clean room at SLAC. Although smaller than the other two lenses that will go into the camera body, it’s still over 3 feet in diameter and weighs a whopping 200 pounds. L3 will be closest to the 3,200-megapixel camera’s focal plane. It’ll be the final optical element correcting images captured by the imaging sensors, as well as the barrier for the vacuum inside the cryostat that cools imaging sensors to minus 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Work on the lenses has been managed by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

During the hot summer days in Central Mississippi, the Smoothie King near the Mississippi College campus attracts a steady stream of customers. A 2013 MC graduate, Bethany Allen of Clarksdale makes one of their refreshing shakes. Bethany is a Smoothie King team member at the Clinton store off U.S. 80.
Seems the seasons are a bit mixed up this year....we are having a mild Winter, thus things are blooming...buds on tree that have just lost their leaves...strange brew, look what's inside of you.....thanks Belinda for the help there !

Matsuya department store has a 7-story atrium in its Ginza flagship store, filled with columns of multi-colored umbrellas. The picture does not do this installation justice -- it was arresting.
On Friday, February 7, 2014, high school and middle school students dashed into the icy Atlantic as part of Special Olympics Virginia’s largest fundraiser: The Polar Plunge and the Cool School Challenge.
“Raising one million dollars for the fourth year in a row is incredible,” said Rick Jeffrey, Special Olympics Virginia president. “More importantly, though, these funds will help us to build bigger, better, more inclusive communities across the state of Virginia.”
In addition to the money raised, they got to take the icy dip into the Atlantic, all while earning a Friday “pass” from school, earn community service credit, Costume contests – prizes for best dressed male and female, prizes for teacher or team sponsor, and freezing photos.
