... from Allt Daraich on Skye.
The alcove on the left of the picture contains at least three bird's nests and I'm sure the lower one had a bird sitting in it. The slopes of Glamaig form the back-drop.

I stopped by Wright-Locke Farm today to give the goats some old bananas, given to me by a convenience store. We had a snowstorm last night, dropping six inches or so.
Check out these cool cardinal facts:
Cardinals are early nesters.
Both male and female cardinal birds sing.
Some people put birdseed outside to keep cardinals as “pets.”
In many cultures, bird lovers have a special place in their hearts for cardinals.
Many people associate cardinals with pleasant memories or the idea that a deceased loved one is present.
Perhaps the cardinal’s comforting, beautiful, and cheerful song invokes pleasant memories from the past.
Or maybe the bold red color speaks to us; red is the color of blood, which gives us life.
For many, cardinals symbolically represent joy and hope.
When single people encounter cardinals, they believe the bird’s presence represents an omen that new romantic relationships are on the verge of manifesting.
In the United States, when people see cardinals in winter, they feel encouraged to look forward to springtime.

I believe this is an otter den. I did not see any that day, but know that they have a healthy population in the area of the Nature Conservancy near Warm Beach on Port Susan Bay.
One more shot taken in the harsh sun that day but my camera was turned toward the shore from the jetty and not into the sun as in the swan and heron images. This area had protection from the jetty and made it an ideal spot to locate a watery home.
Adjectives 101: Blue, of course!
If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time that I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear water
There's lots of those friendly people
They're showing me ways to go
But I never want to lose their inspiration
Time for a cool change
I know that it's time for a cool change
And now that my life is so prearranged
I know that it's time for a cool change
Well, I was born in the sign of water
And it's there that I feel my best
The albatross and the whales, they are my brothers
It's kind of a special feeling
When you're out on the sea alone
Staring at the full moon like a lover
a cool change
(Time) I know that it's time (for) for a cool change
(Time) now that my life (for a cool) is so prearranged (change)
(Time) I know that it's time (for) for a cool change
I've never been romantic
And sometimes I don't care
I know it may sound selfish
But let me breathe the air
Yeah, yeah
Let me breathe the air
If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time that I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear water
It's kind of a special feeling
Out on the sea alone
Staring at the full moon like a lover
a cool change
(Time) I know that it's time (for) for a cool change
(Time) now that my life (for a cool) is so prearranged (change)
(Time) I know that it's time (for) for a cool (change) cool, cool change
it's time, it's time
For a (change) cool, cool change
(Time) ooh, I know (for) it's time for a cool (change) cool, cool change
(Time) now that my life (for a cool) is so prearranged (change)
Well, I know (time) I know, I know (for) I know, I know (a cool)
It's time for a (change) cool change
Yes, it is, yes, it is, yes, it is, yes, it is
You know it's time for a cool change
Wheeling’s 591 job creeps through Rexford Tunnel after having completed their run down to National Lime Stone. Getting trains on the Valley branch is quite difficult, I was fortunate enough to luck into this one after spotting loaded stone gons at Pittsburgh Junction. I have only seen one other shot of this tunnel, but it’s definitely up the ranks on cool Wheeling tunnels .
Everyone is staying cool this summer except poor Mirinda. She's ready to give up the bear suit after a few more customers.
I think I see a few customers coming her way! ;)
Posted a shot of this raven before but this is a different pose.

A muddy youngish elephant flaps its huge ears at the camera during a recent trip to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania. The mud bath and the ear flapping helps to cool the huge animal down in the hot sun.
Sonnenreflektionen auf dem Blindsee. Wer würde bei diesen Temperaturen nicht gerne da reinspringen! :-)
Reflektions on Blindsee/Tyrol. I like to jump in.
