In the middle of an evening monsoon storm, these newer hooded Vaders, help control the crossovers at Mescal AZ., signaling an approaching eastbound.
Perhaps the world famous control room; a place so renowned that explorers travel from every corner of the globe just to stand in its quiet, forgotten grandeur.
This photo holds a special place in my heart, not because it captures the most iconic control room in the world, but because it is steeped in memories.
It takes me back to an adventure through Eastern Europe, where we slept in abandoned Soviet buildings and beneath the stars in secluded forests. A journey shared with a crew of four, including two companions I had never met before. We chose to trust each other, and ventured into foreign lands to uncover hidden remnants of the past.
Maybe that’s also what exploration is about…
Formerly a beautiful 1920's skylit control room, unfortunately now only half of it left and the skylight is blocked
These images were captured in an abandoned power plant in Italy. There is not much left of the plant which once generated up to 80 megawatts. However, the control room and a cooling tower are still in place.

Son aus que durant l’època de cria, dipositen els ous sobre el terreny nu. Tot just quatre plomes formen la conca a on dipositaran la posta.
Defensen el seu niu i la posterior pollada amb fermesa, tornant-se agressives amb qualsevol que s’acosti, fins i tot humans.
El control passa per la localització i retirada de nius. Tanmateix i de forma preventiva, es poden realitzar vols amb rapinyaires, per tal d’evitar que prenguin la zona per a nidificar.

Flight control
The gulls are birds of great magnitude and strength. During the year, they wander around the coastal areas, although more and more are flooded into places of interior.
They are birds that during the breeding season lay their eggs on the naked ground. Just four feathers form the basin where they will deposit the post.
Defend their nest and the back with firmness, becoming aggressive with anyone who comes up, even humans.
The control goes through the location and removal of nests. However, precautionary measures can be made with birds of prey, so as to prevent them from taking the area to nest.

Launceston Castle dominates the surrounding landscape.
It was built by Richard, Earl of Cornwall soon after the Norman Conquest and became the administrative headquarters for the Earl of Cornwall. With its far reaching views, it was a significant location where control could be kept over the various estates in the area.

The Sheldonian Theatre is the principal assembly room of the University, and the regular meeting place of Congregation, the body which controls the University’s affairs. All public ceremonies of the University are performed here, notably the annual Encaenia. Its main frontage (here) faces away from Broad street on which the building stands, to the Bodleian Library across the square.
The University acquired the site soon after the Restoration, and in 1664 to 1669 the present theatre was erected. Gilbert Sheldon, Archbishop of Canterbury and a former Warden of All Souls, met the entire cost of the build and so gave his name to the building.
The architect was a young Christopher Wren, then Professor of Astronomy at Oxford, with as yet little practical experience of building. Inspired by drawings of Roman theatres, he adopted their D-shaped plan.

An American white ibis was heading home for the night as smoke from a controlled burn left stripes across the setting sun.
Shooting at f/16 was a big mistake but I literally grabbed the camera from the car and ran without checking settings. My rule, which I violated yet again, is to leave cameras on f/8 or thereabouts.

Controlled Chaos
In chaos theory, control of chaos is based on the fact that any chaotic attractor contains an infinite number of unstable periodic orbits. Chaotic dynamics then consists of a motion where the system state moves in the neighborhood of one of these orbits for a while, then falls close to a different unstable periodic orbit where it remains for a limited time, and so forth. This results in a complicated and unpredictable wandering over longer periods of time.
It is only in the past couple of years that the control room at the Ardnacrusha hydroelectric power station has been taken out of use. Generation is now controlled remotely, but the Siemens built 1929 vintage equipment remains in situ.

Windmill Bonrepas near Schoonhoven, controlling the water level in two polders. As the thaw is on its way, the ice from the ditches will disappear in the coming days.. It is a sign that the water level can be brought under control of windmills again. That is done by the windmill, which pumps water from one polder to the other, thus controlling two polders.
Conditions on the melting ice can become highly risky then, potentially causing the situation that the icefloor floats on nothing, because the water underneath it has been pumped to another polder by the windmill. When you walk on that ice and you go through it, you will fall deeper under the ice in the water, with the possibility you dissappear under the ice. Very dangerous!
