The Superb Starling, native to East Africa, stands out amongst its avian counterparts with its resplendent plumage. Its feathers shimmer with a glossy combination of iridescent blues, purples, and greens, forming a tapestry of vibrant hues that seem almost too perfect to be real. The metallic sheen on its back is a captivating sight, contrasting beautifully against its striking black head and chest.
Found in various habitats across Kenya, from savannas to woodlands, the Superb Starling is a social species that thrives in small flocks. Its melodious song fills the air, creating a symphony of sounds that harmonizes with the rhythm of the African wilderness. These birds are known for their agility and aerial acrobatics, darting effortlessly through the skies, adding a touch of dynamism to their already captivating presence.
As an important member of the East African ecosystem, the Superb Starling plays a vital role in seed dispersal and insect control, making it a key player in maintaining the delicate balance of nature.

Today (17/05/2021), a photo of mine was featured in Explore for the first time, three weeks after joining Flickr. I know, this doesn't say much about the quality. But I'm vain enough to honor this event and follow up on the respective photo of the Atomic Dome with a photo of leaving Hiroshima by Shinkansen the next morning.
Last evening the fire department had a controlled burn/training for new cadets. 19* out and Dave was gone for a good seven hours. I rode out for a few hours. One has to salute these men and women for their dedication.
And all the kids cried out, "Please stop, you're scaring me"
I can't help this awful energy
God damn right, you should be scared of me
Who is in control?
I'm well acquainted with villains that live in my head
They beg me to write them so they'll never die when I'm dead
And I've grown familiar with villains that live in my head
They beg me to write them so I'll never die when I'm dead
I'm bigger than my body
I'm colder than this home
I'm meaner than my demons
I'm bigger than these bones

my first half decent shot of a rufous hummingbird, they are attempting to take control of the feeders, keeping the anna's away to the best of their ability. I only have had the male visit on a couple of occasions that I have noticed...it was a pretty high ISO so not as sharp as I would have hoped

Of course we can’t control the Fall, Autumn but the title is a pun on the balloonists who were actually controlling their fall into a space among the trees which are now full of brilliant Autumn (Fall) colours.

I cut off his feet and one wingtip, but I'm fascinated by all the little control surfaces that these egrets have to work with. Check out those leading edge feathers helping to slow his descent

Unless we step into the uncharted territory of the gender revolution, we know exactly where we will be regressing. An all-powerful State that infantilises us, interferes in all our decisions for our own good and—under the pretext of protecting us—keeps us in a childish state of ignorance, fear of punishment and exclusion. The special treatment until now reserved for women, with shame as the primary tool for ensuring their isolation, passivity and lack of protest, could now be extended to all. To understand the mechanics of how women have been made to feel inferior, and induced to willingly maintain themselves in this state, is to understand how the entire population is kept under control. Capitalism is an egalitarian religion, in the sense that it demands general submission, making everyone feel trapped—as all women are.
