Stuart Highway North, north of the Tropic of Capricorn marker. There is something spiritual in flames and smoke when something sad has happened beside the road.
I had found the poor road-killed orange Wedge-tailed Eagle youngster and was gathering up feathers from around the road when the Bush-fire Brigade truck pulled up beside me and said there was going to be a lot of smoke. I think I said I didn't mind. It was a very sad time.and it suited my mood somehow.

This property is the site of an innovative erosion control project. Contrary to a typical WASCOB with hichenbottom inlets, this farmer installed French drains along the upslope side of each berm, aiming to drain water from the sloping landscape and reduce erosion risk on the farm. The property has a total of 12 berms on it, which outlet into the new tile system installed this summer. Projects like this one in the Upper Medway Subwatershed can reduce sediment loads into the creek, improving water quality.

On Saturday, August 13, 2011 crews from the Longview and Woodland fire departments and Columbia River Fire & Rescue in Rainier burned the first Maple Terrace Apartment building down to its concrete base. On Saturday, August 20, 2011 the second building was burned.
The buildings are being removed and the land will be used for a new parking lot at Lower Columbia College.
This was not in the plan. I was not expecting 3 SD40-2s and an SD75I. I didn't expect to see them cross the North Sask river and I wasn't expecting to catch them again by the Cando Staging yard. I believe this one, L512 is heading to the various customers on the Beamer Industrial spur, not the Cando staging yard.
Cando's Sturgeon main staging yard has about 64 tracks, each one with about 1.1km of usable space.
