After 12 hours on a plane I wanted to take a picture of the airport when we landed. In my infinite wisdom and severe exhaustion, I didn't think about the fact that the Chinese officials might be less than thrilled about my picture of their border control. Luckily I only got a grouchy look or two, but I realized later this could have been far worse. At least I got one shot!

Slightly belated effort to deconstruct previously depressing videos which almost gets there in places. My characteristically unwise decision to read some of the text myself is perhaps compensated by the magnificent performance of Martin de Sey near the end.

Now that fall is here, humidity is high and temperatures low, controlled burns are taking place along the Seward Highway on the Kenai Peninsula.
The itsy bitsy spruce bark beetle has been playing havoc on the spruce trees in the area creating fuel for potential forest fires. The controlled burns are helping remove some of the dead fall and other debris.
The Engine Control Room (ECR) looks a little like something from a sci-fi film. In total there is over 700km of cabling onboard the Spirit of Britain!
